| Powdery mildew occurs increasingly on parsley during hot summer periods, which has already become the main problem in some cultures when potted. Therefore a screening system of parsley is being elaborated in a cooperation project to be able to check breeding material for resistance and develop varieties resistant to powdery mildew. The project aims to find a screening system well practicable under greenhouse conditions for a multitude of breeding material. | Für Landwirte und Gärtner, die unter Bedingungen des Ökologischen Landbaus wirtschaften, gehört der Pflanzenschutz zum qualitäts- und ertragsbestimmenden Wirtschaftsfaktor. Aus diesem Grund wurde 2003/2004 vom Julius Kühn-Institut der Bereich Pflanzenschutz im Internetportal www.oekolandbau.de erarbeitet. In diesem Bereich wurden Themenblöcke entwickelt, in den die bedeutendsten Schaderreger und Nutzorganismen beschrieben wurden. Neben Angaben zum Schadbild und zur Biologie wurden vorbeugende und direkte Maßnahmen zur Regulierung erörtert sowie entsprechende Weblinks zu weiterführenden Themen angeboten. | Im ökologischen Anbau stehen zur direkten Kontrolle von Falschem Mehltau und Phytophthora infestans in Gemüsekulturen und Kartoffel ausschließlich Kupfer-Präparate zur Verfügung. Bei Untersuchungen unter kontrollierten Bedingungen (Gewächshaus) zeigte der ethanolische Rohextrakt aus dem Laub von Glycyrrhiza glabra (Süßholz) eine gute Wirkung gegen Oomyceten, während der Pflanzenextrakt bei ersten Prüfungen im Freiland unterschiedlich wirksam war. The database contains information about all plant strengthening products listed in Ger-many, in particular information about the effects in various crops, and related uses of application are provided. It informs on whether product composition complies with the guidelines of organic farming. | A method for testing the efficacy of products which improve the resistance of plants was developed in the Julius Kühn-Institute. The susceptible radish (Raphanus sativus) cultivar ´Saxa 3` was infected with Peronospora parasitica isolated in the field. Different plant resistance improvers (PRI) like plant or algal extracts were tested compared to aqua dest. as control and ß-aminobutyric acid (BABA) as a standard. | A raw extract of licorice (Glycyrrhiza glabra) was tested against downy mildew in vegetables under semi-commercial conditions. In two greenhouse trials in cucumber, efficacies of ca. 70% were achieved (3% extract concentration) in either 7 or 10-11 day application intervals. Under open field conditions, weekly treatments resulted in ca. 2 week retardation of disease. In open field trials in lettuce, efficacies after weekly application of 5% G. glabra extract were variable, depending on disease pressure. In contrast, on lettuce seedlings in climate chambers, the extract reduced disease incidence of Bremia lactucae by 66 to 100%.
