In compliance with the Water Framework Directive (WFD), the good ecological status assessment for Channel-Atlantic coastal water bodies is currently carried out in the intertidal and subtidal zones using a biological indicator based on macroalgae on the rocky coasts. The second step of this Directive (2016-2021) deals with the workings of the marine ecosystem. Therefore, macrofauna has also to be taken into account in the both zones. Current works about the WFD indicator of pressure-impact interactions show deficiencies on how the biological indicators respond to each pressure regarding magnitude and type. Therefore, the implementation of a monitoring program on the southern rocky coast is essential to understand and assess the proper ecological condition... |

The present paper reports on a series of field experiments aiming to characterise the functioning of a man-engineered strongly forced salt-wedge estuary: the lower estuary of the Adour river, France. Bottom-moored velocity measurements and surface boat surveys have been performed under low river discharge conditions, for both neap and spring tides, in order to provide a well-documented reference framework to understand the dynamics of water masses, turbulence and suspended particulate matter (SPM) transport in the lower estuary. An additional campaign has been carried out in high river discharge conditions. This first documented in-situ study of the Adour lower estuary demonstrates its variability in terms of hydrological regimes, from salt-wedge to... |

The HaPoGé survey was planned due to a scientific opportunity tender for the HROV Ariane, it follows the test AtlantHrov campaign technique, which took place from May 26 to June 9, 2017. HaPoGé is the first scientific cruise of the HROV Ariane in Atlantic ocean, aboard a coastal vessel the “Côtes de la Manche”. It took place from July 12 to July 19, 2017. The HROV dives were located in the Capbreton canyon. This survey involved scientist from Ifremer, Bordeaux and Pau universities. It had several objectives: i) to know the morphology of rockfall and sediment areas, ii) to sample in situ the rocky outcrops and characterize the benthic communities and iii) to determine the nature, levels of concentrations and distribution of contaminants in sediments and the... |
