Selection of tomato plant families using characters related to water deficit resistance Horticultura Brasileira
Morales,Rafael GF; Resende,Luciane V; Maluf,Wilson R; Peres,Lázaro EP; Bordini,Isadora C.
Environmental stress, such as drought stress, constantly cause production loss. Breeding programs search for genotypes which may overcome climate adversities, producing in ideal as well as in stressful environments. The present work aimed at to evaluate parameters related to water deficit in 20 F3RC1 families of tomato plants derived from the crossing with a (WELL) genotype, originated from a drought resistant species, as well as select plants using characters related to water deficit resistance. The delineation was in randomized blocks design with three replications. Two experiments were carried out, the first in Lavras, Minas Gerais state, Brazil, that consisted in evaluating nine F3RC1 families derived from two self-fertilizations of the following...

Caracterização agronômica de genótipos de minitomate Horticultura Brasileira
Preczenhak,Ana P; Resende,Juliano TV; Chagas,Rafael R; Silva,Paulo R; Schwarz,Kélin; Morales,Rafael GF.

Tomato post-harvest durability and physicochemical quality depending on silicon sources and doses Horticultura Brasileira
Marodin,Josué C; Resende,Juliano TV; Morales,Rafael GF; Faria,Marcos V; Trevisam,Anderson R; Figueiredo,Alex ST; Dias,Diego M.
ABSTRACT This study aimed to investigate the effect of silicon (Si) sources and doses on the physicochemical quality as well as post-harvest conservation of tomato fruits. Treatments were arranged in a 3 x 5 factorial scheme corresponding to sources {calcium silicate, potassium silicate and sodium silicate} and five doses of Si (equivalent to 0, 100, 200, 400 and 800 kg/ha SiO2). Randomized blocks were the experimental design, with four replications. Soluble solids, vitamin C, lycopene, titratable acidity, mature fruit firmness, initial firmness, firmness half-life, time until reaching firmness equivalent to 3.0 x 104 N/m2 and 2.0 x 104 N/m2 and Si content in fruits were evaluated. Soluble solids, vitamin C and lycopene of fruits increased with increasing...

Yield of tomato fruits in relation to silicon sources and rates Horticultura Brasileira
Marodin,Josué C; Resende,Juliano TV; Morales,Rafael GF; Silva,Maria LS; Galvão,Alexandre G; Zanin,Daniel S.
There is controversy about the benefits of silicon (Si) on tomato plants. This element has structural and metabolic functions in the physiology of plants, generating benefits that may result in increased productivity of various plant species. Thus, the aim of this study was to evaluate the phytotechnical characteristics and the productivity of tomato plants according to the rates and sources of Si. The design was established in randomized blocks with factorial 3x5, corresponding to three sources of silicate (calcium silicate, potassium silicate and sodium silicate) and five doses of Si (equivalent to 0, 100, 200, 400 and 800 kg ha-1 of SiO2). The fertilization with Si increased the commercial productivity of tomato plants and reduced the occurrence of...
