ABSTRACT: This study aimed at evaluating the effects of different desiccation periods of Urochloa decumbens on the initial development of Eucalyptus urograndis (clone C-219H). The experiment was conducted in 100 liter concrete boxes, previously filled with Dark-Red Latosol. U. decumbens was sown in all plots, except for the control sample without covering. After 95 days from sowing, the herbicide glyphosate (dose of 1,424 g a.e. ha-1) was sprayed at intervals of 0 (Apply-Plant), 7, 14, 21, 28 and 35 days before eucalyptus planting, plus a control sample without covering, totaling seven treatments. A completely randomized design with six replications was used. Eucalyptus plants were evaluated 30, 60 and 90 days after planting (DAP), when the height of the... |

ABSTRACT This research was carried out to evaluate the interference periods and phytosociological indexes of the weed community on sweet sorghum, hybrid CVSW 80007, cultivated for two seasons in a year. The treatments were based on an increased duration of weed presence and weed absence after sowing (0, 4, 7, 14, 21, 28, 35, 42, 56 and 68 days after crop emergence for the summer season and 0, 4, 7, 14, 21, 28, 35, 42, 49, 56, 63 and 100 days for the fall season). The weed community was evaluated based on the number of weeds and the dry mass of each weed population in each period of weed control in the summer season and each period of no weed control and weed control in the autumn season. These data were used to determine the relative indexes of density,... |

ABSTRACT: Sugarcane is one of the most important crops planted in Brazil in that the presence of weeds in the fields has promoted significant yield reduction. The objective of this work was to evaluate the differential growth response of two sugarcane varieties cropped in the ‘Plene’ system as a function of the coexistence with different weed species. Treatments consisted of the coexistence of Bidens pilosa plus Ipomoea quamoclit, Ipomoea hederifolia, Amaranthus viridis, Urochloa plantaginea, Panicum maximum, and Digitaria horizontalis with two sugarcane varieties (RB92579 and SP80-1842) cropped in the ‘Plene’ system, in addition to a control without weeds. The design was completely randomized with three replicates. Dry matter accumulation of weeds was... |

ABSTRACT: The aim of this research was to determine weed interference periods in sugarcane cultivated under the system of pre-sprouted seedlings, taking into account the impact on the final plant stand, and bud yield and stalk yield. In the field, this study used a randomized block design with 14 treatments and four replications. The treatments consisted of periods of control and weed coexistence with the sugarcane crop (cultivar IACSP95-5000): 30, 60, 90, 120, 150, 180, 210 and 240 days after planting. A phytosociological survey was carried out in the experimental area, and the species Merremia aegyptia, Urochloa decumbens and Nicandra physaloides were found to be predominant. At the end of 240 days, regression analysis was performed according to... |

ABSTRACT: This study aimed to evaluate the effects of the quantity and soil position of Urochloa ruziziensis straw desiccated with glyphosate for different periods of time on ‘M-SOY 7908 RR’ soybean nodulation, growth and production characteristics. Three experiments were conducted under semi-controlled conditions. In the first, three quantities of U. ruziziensis straw (2.5, 5.0 and 10 ton ha-1) previously desiccated with glyphosate were incorporated into the soil (10 cm deep) or deposited on the soil surface, and in the second experiment, the treatments consisted of three U. ruziziensis desiccation periods, 0, 7 and 12 days before soybean sowing, and one treatment without U. ruziziensis. In the third treatment, desiccation was performed at 0, 5 and 10... |

ABSTRACT: While evidence is mounting that sweet sorghum [Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench], an ethanol crop, may provide an alternative to sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum L.) on sugarcane lands under rehabilitation, little is known of its under production limiting factors (e.g., interspecific competition with weeds). Accordingly, the aim of the present study was to identify the initial mutual interspecific competition between sweet sorghum hybrids and weeds in high infestation situations. The experiment was carried out in pots, using a 5 × 6 factorial design: (i) a sorghum-free control and four sweet sorghum hybrids (CVSW 81198, CVSW 80007, CVSW 80147 and XBSW 82158), besides a control without sweet-sorghum, and (ii) five species of weeds [Cyperus rotundus L.,... |

ABSTRACT: The repetitive use of herbicides with the same mechanism of action causes the selection of resistant weeds, such as ryegrass. Considering the occurrence of ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum) in eucalyptus, a crop on which glyphosate is used, it is necessary to study its interference. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of densities (0, 10, 20, 30 and 50 plants m-2) of two ryegrass biotypes (resistant and susceptible to glyphosate) on seedlings of two eucalyptus clones (I-144 and 1407). The used experimental design was in randomized blocks with four replications, following a 2 x 5 factorial arrangement for each clone. The height and diameter of the clones were evaluated at 0, 14, 28, 42, 56 and 70 days after transplantation (DAT),... |
