| A cheap and versatile methodology to get digital images of dry and wet preserved organisms, using a flat bed scanner, is presented. To obtain the images of wet specimens, a shallow pool was glued on top of the scanner glass. The pool is filled with water or alcohol and the organisms are immersed and their structures expanded. The best images were obtained with organisms between 1.5 and 15 cm in length. The depth of field was limited to 1.2 cm. These images are also useful for taxonomical research without the need of manipulating the organisms; they can be used too, to compare with better accuracy certain structures between different specimens. |

| En el Caribe colombiano existen pocos trabajos sobre zooplancton que han estudiado su composición específica y la información existente está en gran parte consignada en literatura gris y muy dispersa. Estudios realizados en otras áreas del Caribe muestran una alta riqueza de copépodos registrando aproximadamente 500 especies. En este trabajo se presenta el listado taxonómico de 217 especies de copépodos planctónicos pertenecientes a los órdenes Calanoida, Cyclopoida, Harpacticoida, Poecillostomatoida, Mormonilloida y Siphonostomatoida, registradas para el mar Caribe colombiano desde 1970. |

| Between October and August 1999 five cruises were made on board of R/V Ancón, across the Colombian Caribbean slope, from Punta Estrella (Guajira), near the Venezuelan border, to Cabo Tiburón (Chocó), near the Panamá border. Eighty trawls were made between 200 and 500 m depth with a semi-balloon net. Twelve new records of fishes for the Colombian Caribbean in the orders Beryciformes, Zeiformes, Perciformes and Tetraodontiformes were collected. Plectranthias garrupellus (Serranidae), Benthodesmus tenuis and B. simonyi (Trichiuridae) are new records for the Caribbean; Diplospinnus multistriatus family (Gempylidae) is a new record for the southern Caribbean. |

| Three species of stomatopods collected for INVEMAR-MACROFAUNA cruises: Squilla caribaea Manning, 1969, S. intermedia Bigelow, 1893 y Eurysquilla holtuisi Manning, 1969 are listed. The last two species are first records for the Colombian Caribbean Sea. E. holtuisi Manning, 1969, known only from type material from Panamá, was the most abundant with nine specimens; some morphometric relations of this species are presented. |
