Yield and nutrition of tomato using different nutrient sources Horticultura Brasileira
Zuba,SN; Nogueira,WCL; Fernandes,LA; Sampaio,RA; Costa,CA.
The effect of alternative sources of nutrients was evaluated on yield, nutrition and fruit quality of tomato cv Santa Clara in an agro ecological system, under natural conditions in Montes Claros, Minas Gerais State, Brazil. The experimental design was of completely randomized blocks with seven treatments and four replications, using eight plants per experimental plot. The treatments comprised of 1) conventional fertilization with NPK; 2) organic compost + natural phosphate + rock dust, applied separately; 3) organic compost produced from the addition of natural phosphate and rock dust + green manure; 4) organic compost produced from the addition of rock dust + natural phosphate + green manure; 5) organic compost produced from the addition of natural...

Crude protein and metabolizable energy levels for layers reared in hot climates Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Avic.
Almeida,VR; Dias,AN; Bueno,CFD; Couto,FAP; Rodrigues,PA; Nogueira,WCL; Faria Filho,DE.
The objective of the present study was to evaluate the effects of different dietary crude protein (CP) and metabolizable energy (ME) levels on the performance, internal and external egg quality, and cloacal temperature of commercial layers reared in hot climate. In this trial, 100 commercial Hy-Line W-36 layers between 20 and 32 weeks of age were distributed according to a completely randomized experimental design with a 2 x 2 factorial arrangement, consisting of two CP levels (15 e 18%) and two ME contents (2700 and 3100 kcal/kg) with five replicates per treatment and 10 birds per replicate. Performance (feed intake, egg production, egg mass, and feed conversion ratio), internal (Haugh units and albumen and yolk percentage) and external (eggshell % and...

Effect of dietary energy and stocking density on the performance and sensible heat loss of broilers reared under tropical winter conditions Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Avic.
Nogueira,WCL; Velásquez,PAT; Furlan,RL; Macari,M.
The objective of the present study was to evaluate the effects of different dietary energy levels and stocking densities on the thermoregulating parameters, live performance, and carcass traits of broilers reared under tropical winter conditions at different times of the day. In total, 1,312 one-d-old male broilers were used. Birds were allotted to three different stocking densities (10, 14 or 18 birds/m²) and two dietary energy levels (2900 or 3200 kcal ME/kg). The following parameters were evaluated:radiant heat load (RHL), rectal temperature (RT), feed intake (FI), weight gain (WG), feed conversion ratio (FCR), livability (L), production of live weight per area (WA), and carcass yield. Stocking density did not affect sensible heat loss (SRL) or rectal...
