วิกฤติโลกร้อนกับการวิจัยและพัฒนาพันธุ์ข้าวสาลี Thai Agricultural
Nongnuch Pradit.
Crisis of Global Warming resulting in climate change seriously and have an impact on the production of cereals, especially wheat, a crop that requires low temperatures for growth. The growth arrest and lower productivity. Meteorological data of Thailand to global warming as well. The temperature rise and the overall decrease in rainfall. Effects of climate change has extended to include wheat varieties research and development in Rice research in the Upper North and the Northeast in Thailand, the region has the potential to grow wheat and research and development of such a long time. We found that wheat has been the impact of climate change with temperature higher than the optimum temperature for growth. It halts wheat growth, acceleration of growth and...

Rice Gall midge (Orseolia oryzae (Wood-Mason)) is a major problem in the upper Northern part, a glutinous rice line PRE04012-20-1-1-1 was derived from a single cross between Sahm Samai and PRE96011-SPT-1-2-2-1-1 since 2004. The farmer field trials had tested in 2011-2013. In wet season, high potential yield was 1,043 kg/rai while the average yield was 703 kg/rai which was non significant different from 710 kg/rai of RD14 and 704 kg/rai of SPT1. In dry season, the high potential yield was 916 kg/rai while the average yield of PRE04012-20-1-1-1 and SPT1 were 714 kg/rai, but lower than RD14 (759 kg/rai) by 6 percent. In addition, this line can produce maximum yield of 780 kg/rai at 20.4 kg N/rai. This line performed better gall midge resistance (R-MS in green...

Rice gall midge (GM) is an important insect pest in the upper north of Thailand i.e. Tak, Phrae, Lampang, Nan, Phayao, Mae Hong Son, Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai provinces. Severe infestations generally occur during September to October. Prior to this study, only MN62M and RD4, the two glutinous rice varieties were recommended as resistant ones. Hence, the non-glutinous type with resistance to GM is in urgent need. The research has been conducted for 12 years during 2001 - 2012. The cross was made between PRE92039-3-1-2-1 and SPT82022-PRE-26-3-2-GM-6. Populations were selected continuously from F2 to F6 after which study and evaluation were carried out in successive steps from observational nursery, intra-station yield trial, inter-station yield trial and...

Nongnuch Pradit.
Beu Po Lo, is highland paddy rice variety which are widely planted among Karen ethnic groups and its emphasis on highland food security in Mae Hong Son. In 2008, Beu Po Lo varieties were surveyed and collected form diversed area between 505-1,303 meters above sea level in Mae Hong Son. Beu Po Lo is a traditional rice growing for a long time and maintained by an ancestor as an inheritance and tradition for many generations. Beu Po Lo is well known with large round seeds, appearance and divide into three types as large, medium and small.grain size. They grow single plant species or two or the whole of all kinds. In addition to planting in upland condition, we found that some of “Score” Karen ethnic groups plant in field conditions. By another name called Beu...

Three objectives of the project of rainfed lowland rice was emphasized for 1st to add up the necessary phenotype with resistance to the important insects and diseases, well develop in restrict environment, high yielding ability and maintain the good taste good cooking properties to the favorite varieties RD6, KDML105 and RD15. 2nd to diversified genetic background with high yielding ability 1 or 2 promising line and 3rd to purified the popular local varieties and put into the highend market. Rice breeding for a new variety with good quality for consumers and resist to insects and disease was continue keep on, but mostly result in fail objective sometime get good quality but not resistance or sometime get a resistance one but not good quality. It was...

Promising line IR77954-28-36-3 was first developed at the International Rice Research Institute in 1998. Selection and backcrossing were conducted at Ubon Ratchathani Rice Research Center during 1999-2004. Evaluation for yield potential and environmental adaptation was carried out in the upper northern region during 2005-2012. Results from experimental fields in research centers showed that this line gave average grain yield of 12-22% higher than KDML105, flowering date ranging from 11-24 October, 107-172 centimeter height, resistance to blast disease, good response to nitrogen fertilizer, and cooking quality similar to KDML105. The line IR77954-28-36-3 was adopted by farmers and consumers according to preference analysis by farmer participatory rice...
