Entoloma subgenus Nolanea (emend. Romagnesi 1978) is revised on account of personal observations and studies on collections from various herbaria. The types of European taxa, as far as they could be recovered, have been examined. Observations on extralimital taxa are included. The infrageneric classification of Romagnesi (1978) is followed in broad outline with some slight alterations: sect. Papillata is emended by including sections Minuta Romagn. and Cosmeoxonema Fernandae, Largent & Thiers. One new section, viz. sect. and four new subsections, viz. subsect. Tristia, Icterina, Infularia, and Cheilocystidiata are introduced. 54 Taxa are recognized, five of which are new: Entoloma sericeum var. cinereo-opacum, E. fernandae f. eccilioides, E.... |

Fifteen new taxa are described from Kerala State, India, based on collections made by the first author. Three taxa fit subgenus Pouzarella (E. testaceostrigosum, E. violaceovillosum, and E. dysthales var. keralense). Four species are described as having cuboid spores (E. albidoquadratum, E. brunneoquadratum, E. keralense, and E. perinfundibuliforme). Entoloma indoviolaceum is a typical Leptonia, close to E. tjallingiorum from Europe. Two species belong to sect. Cyanula: E. calliviolaceum and E. griseoviolascens. The velutinous pileus of E. griseolazulinum is representative for sect. Calliderma. Rather enigmatic is E. allocybesimilis with affinities to E. excentricum in subgenus Allocybe, and E. perflavidum and E. tectonicola probably must be placed in the... |

This study reveals the concordance, or lack thereof, between morphological and phylogenetic species concepts within Entoloma subg. Leptonia in boreal-temperate Eurasia, combining a critical morphological examination with a multigene phylogeny based on nrITS, nrLSU and mtSSU sequences. A total of 16 taxa was investigated. Emended concepts of subg. Leptonia and sect. Leptonia as well as the new sect. Dichroi are presented. Two species (Entoloma percoelestinum and E. sublaevisporum) and one variety (E. tjallingiorum var. laricinum) are described as new to science. On the basis of the morphological and phylogenetical evidence E. alnetorum is reduced to a variety of E. tjallingiorum, and E. venustum is considered a variety of E. callichroum. Accordingly, the... |

Three new species of Entoloma s.l. from Kerala State, India are described, illustrated and discussed. Entoloma haematinum, a very small, bright red, omphalinoid species, reminiscent of Hygrocybe cantharellus, is unique because of its quadrate-cuboid spores; it fits well in subgenus Omphaliopsis. Entoloma nubilum and E. carneum are both characterised by their small, pleurotoid basidiocarps. The first is related to the species of subgenus Leptonia; the second fits better in subgenus Claudopus. Comments are given on the taxonomic position of the new species. |

A survey is given of the infrageneric classification of the genus Entoloma sensu lato (Basidiomycetes, Agaricales), underlaying the author’s recent revisions of Entoloma in the Netherlands and adjacent regions (Noordeloos, 1979, 1980, 1981). The taxonomic value of the characters currently used in this genus is discussed. Three new subgenera are described, viz. Allocybe, Inocephalus, and Omphaliopsis, and subgenus Paraleptonia Romagn. is validated; several new combinations are made. |

With the publication of volume 15 (1) Persoonia has undergone a number of changes, both in the team of managing editors and in the lay-out. Dr. C. Bas retired in March 1991 from his post at the Rijksherbarium, and turned over his editorial duties to his successor, Dr. M.E. Noordeloos, after finishing volume 14, part 4, the ‘Festschrift’ dedicated to Dr. R.A. Maas Geesteranus. Dr. Bas has been an editor of Persoonia since 1972, and the present editors wish to thank him most sincerely for his efforts to maintain and improve the standard of our journal. |

Barkman, J.J.; Noordeloos, M.E.. |
During a long-term mycological investigation of Juniperus communities in north-western Europe by the first author, a small Entoloma species was found, which did not seem to fit with one of the known species of Entoloma with a brownish pileus and bluish stipe, because of the small, almost isodiametrical spores and clamped basidia. The only species which seemed to be related was Entoloma lampropus in the sense of Kühner & Romagnesi (1953). That species however, turned out to be clearly different in a number of characters such as size and shape of spores and structure and pigmentation of the pileipellis (see Noordeloos, 1982). Therefore the collections of this apparently new species were examined by the second author in the course of a critical revision... |

The new section Heterospora is proposed for Phoma species producing not only relatively small, mainly aseptate conidia, but also distinctly larger conidia, which may become 1- or more septate: ‘ascochytoid-stagonosporoid’. The majority of the conidia are always phomoid in vitro, but in vivo they may be predominantly large and septate, synanamorphs being therefore referred to Stagonosporopsis Died. The heterosporous species are described in vitro, with additional data on the conidial morphology in vivo. An addendum deals with eight species from other sections which display a similar conidial dimorphism. Five new species and four new combinations have been proposed: Phoma actaeae spec. nov., Phoma alectorolophi spec. nov., Phoma nigripycnidia spec. nov.,... |

1. The sectional name Cosmeoexonema Largent & Thiers (1972) has priority over the sectional name Papillata Romagnesi 1974. This has been corrected in Noordeloos, 1981: 141. As a consequence the following new combination is necessary: Entoloma subsection Papillata (Romagn.) Noordeloos comb. nov.—Basionym: Rhodophyllus section Papillati Romagn. in Bull. mens. Soc. linn. Lyon 43: 330. 1974. 2. Subsection Endochromonema has been published by me (Noordeloos, 1980: 495) without a Latin diagnosis; no type has been indicated. This is corrected below: Entoloma subsection Endochromonema Noordeloos, subsect. nov. Pigmentae pallidae, intracellulosae vel membranares, haud incrustantes; sporae heterodiametricae vel isodiametricae, haud multiangulatae nodulosae;... |

Mycena cecidiophila is newly described and illustrated. It grows on knopper galls on the cups of Quercus robur, and was collected from a single site in the Netherlands, Huys ten Donck estate. Although the new species resembles a species of sect. Sacchariferae, it differs in the negative Melzer-reaction on the lamella trama. The new section Cecidiophilae is therefore proposed here to accommodate the new species, characterized by warty elements of the pileipellis, amyloid spores, and absence of pleuro- and cheilocystidia. |
