| Twenty one species of cetaceans occur in various degrees of abundance in the Mediterranean Sea and in the Black Sea. This list corresponds to Annex 1 of the Agreement, with the addition of three species known to have occurred in the Mediterranean in subsequent times. The list also roughly corresponds to the species occurring in the Contiguous Atlantic Area, however we must caution that a considerable number of other species, commonly present throughout the Atlantic Ocean, may occur there.
