Acari uit Ambon Naturalis
Oudemans, A.C..
Laelaps soricis Oudms. 1925. (Fig. 1—7). Laelaps soricis Oudms. in Ent. On a new genus and species of Parasitic Acari Naturalis
Oudemans, A.C..
This most remarkable genus probably belongs to the subfamily of Laelaptinae. Though the male is unknown to me, I do not hesitate to place it here, because the female, concerning the dorsal and ventral shields, seems to be nearest related to Hypoaspis myrmecophilus (Berlese) and Hypoaspis Canestrinii (Berlese) which are provided too with metapodial as well as with inguinal shields, a rare coincidence; and concerning its being covered dorsally with so numerous hairs, — to Hypoaspis arcualis (C. L. Koch). The reason why in my opinion the present mite belongs to a hitherto unknown genus, is, that the mandibles in the female sex lack the upper-jaw and have a fixed, not a movable, under-jaw. I think it is not senseful to enlarge at present the number of generic...

Aponomma komodoense nov. spec. Naturalis
Oudemans, A.C..
Maten. Het afgebeelde individu was er...

Laelaps Versteegii, a new species of Parasitic Mite Naturalis
Oudemans, A.C..
Male. Length 1650, width 1140 μ.— Colour pale; dorsal shield straw-coloured. — Shape like that of Laelaps agilis C. L. Koch, broad-oval, top forward, with a slightly indicated shoulder above legs I and II. — Texture scaly in the shields; finely wrinkled in the weak skin. Dorsal side (fig. 1) protected by one shield, long 1530, wide 910 μ, so that a wide margin of weak skin surrounds the shield from the shoulder backwards, and posteriorly. Anteriorly the shield shows the same shoulders above legs I as the body, and less developed shoulders above legs II. The side-edges of the shield are slightly rounded, the posterior edge well rounded. Hairs. The hairs are bristles of two kinds; there are longer and finer ones on the shield, and very short (comparatively...

Pygiopsylla Robinsoni (Rothschild) ♂ Naturalis
Oudemans, A.C..
The female of this species has been described by the Hon. N. C. Rothschild in Novitates Zoologicae, Vol. 12, p. 483 (pl. XIII, fig. 6). The author states that it is allied to Ceratophyllus ahalae Rothsch., and indeed the head of the ♂ of this species, judging from the figure given by the British Suctoriologist in Novit. Zool. Vol. 11, pl. XI, fig. 51, resembles that of the present species as two peas. The male apparatus, however, differs, though not widely. Head. The antennal groove, which is closed behind, reaches far dorsally, so that it is very near the vertex. The grooves are united by a very fine but distinct seam. In the anterior part of the head there are three eyelike organs, two near the fore margin, one above the implantation of the maxillary...
