| Abstract: The objective of this work was to analyze the effects of immunocastration on the performance and carcass quality of steers in the finishing phase, compared with non-castration and surgical castration. Data from ten studies with records of 1,261 male bovines were analyzed. The studies included in the meta-analysis necessarily contained treatments with immunocastration specifically against the gonadotropin-releasing hormone. Each study was considered as a random effect in the statistical model used. The data were tested for homogeneity of variances and residue normality, and then subjected to the analysis of variance. | Foram estudados o desempenho, o comportamento e a ingestão de forragem por novilhas de corte em pastagem de milheto (Pennisetum americanum (L.) Leeke) e papuã (Urochloa plantaginea) no período de janeiro a abril de 2008. Foi utilizado o método de pastejo contínuo com número variável de animais. A ingestão de forragem foi estimada nos estádios vegetativo e reprodutivo das forrageiras usando o óxido de cromo como indicador da produção fecal. As avaliações de comportamento foram feitas por meio de observação visual, em quatro períodos contínuos de 24 horas. | Avaliou-se o desempenho de bezerras de corte dos 8 aos 12 meses de idade em pastagem exclusiva de azevém (Lolium multiflorum Lam.) ou em pastagem de azevém em consórcio com trevo-vermelho (Trifolium pratense) LE 116 ou azevém com suplemento (1% do peso vivo (PV) por dia). O método de pastejo foi o de lotação contínua com número variável de animais. O suplemento utilizado foi ração comercial, com 17% de proteína bruta, 23,6% de fibra em detergente neutro e 59,6% de nutrientes digestíveis totais. | ABSTRACT Aiming at breeding heifers with 14-15 months of age, 100 Hereford calves were subjected to different feeding systems. Heifers grazed on a natural pasture in early winter, fed or not a supplement (14% crude protein; 72% total digestible nutrients), were transferred to a ryegrass pasture for 73 days, and then returned to a natural pasture for 15 days until the beginning of the breeding season. | O experimento foi conduzido com o objetivo de avaliar os atributos das pastagens de milheto (Pennisetum americanum) e papuã (Urochloa plantaginea) e relacioná-los ao comportamento ingestivo de novilhas de corte. O delineamento experimental foi o inteiramente casualizado, com medidas repetidas no tempo, com dois tratamentos e duas repetições de área. | Avaliou-se o desempenho de ovelhas com cria e, posteriormente, das cordeiras recém-desmamadas, mantidas exclusivamente em pastagem de azevém (Lolium multiflorum Lam) ou recebendo grão de milho ou farelo de soja na proporção de 1% PV da unidade ovina (ovelha + cordeira). Foram avaliados os seguintes parâmetros: ganho médio diário, ganho de peso vivo por hectare e carga animal. | Avaliou-se a relação entre a estrutura do pasto, as variáveis ambientais e o comportamento ingestivo de cordeiras Ile de France × Texel em pastagem consorciada de aveia-preta (Avena strigosa Schreb.), azevém (Lolium multiflorum Lam.) e trevo-vermelho (Trifolium pratense L.) sob quatro intensidades de desfolha (muito alta, alta, média e baixa). | The effect of supplementation on ingestive behavior and displacement patterns of beef heifers grazing on Italian ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum Lam.) pasture was evaluated. The grazing method was continuous with variable stocking rate. The experimental design was completely randomized with repeated measures on time. | This experiment evaluated forage production, sward structure, stocking rate, weight gain per area and nutritive value of forage as grazed by beef heifers on Alexandergrass (Urochloa plantaginea (Link) Hitch) pasture fertilized with nitrogen (N): 0; 100; 200 or 300 kg of N/ha. | ABSTRACT: The objective of this study was to determine the leaf tissue flows in Italian ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum Lam.), in different phenological stages, grazed by lambs, and managed under three herbage allowances (6, 9 and 12 kg DM/100 kg body weight under rotational stocking method. | Este trabalho foi conduzido com o objetivo de avaliar a composição botânica da pastagem e o comportamento ingestivo diurno de bezerras de corte recebendo diferentes níveis de suplemento. Os animais foram mantidos em pastagem de aveia preta (Avena strigosa Schreb.) e azevém (Lolium multiflorum Lam.), recebendo ração comercial nos níveis de 0; 0,3; 0,6 e 0,9% do peso vivo (PV).
