Apple scab (Venturia inaequalis (Cke.) Wint.) causes serious losses in quality and yield of organically as well as conventionally grown apples. Organic apple growers are highly dependent on the use of sulphur, lime sulphur and copper fungicides to control apple scab. Whereas only elemental sulphur is permitted for scab control in organic apple production in Denmark, and in addition lime sulphur in The Netherlands, copper fungicides are used in organic production in many European countries. However, the use of copper fungicides in the EU is now being phased out (EU Council Regulation (EEC) No. 2092/91) and alternative fungicides for control of apple scab and other diseases in other crops are increasingly needed. The effect of autumn application of urea on the activity and composition of saprotrophic fungi associated with sour cherry (Prunus cerasus) leaf litter infected with the leaf spot pathogen, Blumeriella jaapii, was studied under orchard conditions from the time of leaf fall to the release of ascospores, the following spring. The ability of treatment of infected leaves post leaf fall with urea or with inoculum of selected fungal strains to reduce primary inoculum (ascospores and winter conidia) of B. jaapii in spring was evaluated. Hvordan påvirker kyllingeproduktion i æbleplantagen udbyttet og frugtkvaliteten? Organic Eprints

Kombinationsproduktion af slagtekyllinger og frugtdyrkning undersøges i øjeblikket i ICROFS (Tidligere FØJO) og det Jordbrugsvidenskabelige Fakultet ved Århus Universitet, der i QEMP projektet laver forsøg med slagtekyllinger i en æbleplantage på Fejø Forsøgsplantage. I ICROFS’ nyhedsbrev 1/2008 er de foreløbige resultater fra forsøget på kyllingekødkvaliteten ud fra afstamning, fodertype og slagtealder beskrevet. Her omtales virkningerne på æbleproduktionen.
