Two totally randomized experimental designs were developed under controlled conditions of laboratory during 44 and 32 days, to evaluate the effect of seven diets isocalorics and isolipidics containing 0, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 and 60% protein levels on growth and survival of bullfrog tadpoles (Rana catesbeiana). There were used animals had an average initial weight of 0.20 ± 0.05 y 0.56 ± 0.25 g. The fastest growths in weight, the metamorphosis ratio and protein efficiency ratio were reached with diet of 20% of protein witch showed significant differences (p<0.05) with the other ones. The feed conversion ratio varied between 1.75 y 11.44 and the best protein efficiency ratio was reached for the animals that attained the bigger growths. It was recommended to... |

To assess the effect of protein levels in diet on growth of pink shrimp juveniles (Farfantepenaeus notialis), two completely randomly experimental designs were carried out, one at laboratory scale during 8 weeks and the second one in fertilized earthen ponds during 20 weeks. Samples of pink shrimps obtained after spawning in the laboratory, were used. Isocaloric practical diets containing 35, 40 and 45% were used in the first experiment and 40 and 45% protein in the second one. In both trials, shrimps fed with 45% protein diet reached the highest growths. The nutritional factors assessed were always better in that organisms fed with the diet of higher protein content. The histological analysis of the hepatopancreas in shrimp feds with diets containing... |

To evaluate the effect of different feeding schedules on growth of white shrimp (Litopenaeus schmitti) juveniles, a totally randomized experimental design was carried out in bottomless pens of 1 m2 in a fertilized earthen pond for 54 days, using 6 treatments and 5 replications. The feeding schedules resulted of different combinations of supplementary foods with 24, 30 y 33% of protein level during the culture, including the schedule used in commercial production in Cuba as control. An “unfed” treatment was included to estimate the contribution of natural food in the growth of shrimps. Treatments that included artificial foods with high protein levels at the end of the schedule promoted higher growths. It was estimated that natural forage contributed... |
