Lodging causes yield reduction of rainfed lowland rice, particularly for the two popular varieties; KDML105 and RD6. Improving lodging resistance varieties has been in slow progress due to lack of understanding of morpho-physiological characters related to lodging resistance and also employing inappropriate protocol to evaluate lodging resistant among breeding lines. Experiments in wet season 2012 at UBN-RRC, NRM-RRC and UDN-RRC, were carried out to study plant characters in association with lodging resistance. Rice lines used for the study were breeding lines derived from the cross between IR68586/Leuang Hawm/KDML105, a group of short plant height lines together with a group of high yielding lines. This research aims to study the effect of planting dates on the variation of some important agronomic characteristics of photoperiod sensitive cultivars. The experiment was conducted at Nakorn Ratchasima Rice Research Centre during wet season 2011-2013 by using a split plot in RCB design with 3 replicates. Main plots consisted of 5 planting dates; May 5, June 5, July 5, August 5, and September 5. Sub plots consisted of 4 photoperiod sensitive rice cultivars; i.e. KDML105, RD45, RD6, and RD12. Some important agronomic characteristics were recorded. Data sets from each year were analyzed using a single site analysis. Treatment means were compared using a Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT).
