Seasonal abundance and sexual variation in morphometric traits of Oxelytrum discicolle (Brulle, 1840) (Coleoptera: Silphidae) in a Brazilian Atlantic Forest Biota Neotropica
Ferreira,Paulo Sérgio Fiuza; Pires,Evaldo Martins; Guedes,Raul Narciso Carvalho; Mendes,Márcio; Coelho,Lívia Aguiar.
A total of 293 specimens of Oxelytrum discicolle were sampled weekly over a period of two years using a black light trap. The study took place in an Atlantic Forest reserve located near Viçosa city, Minas Gerais State, Brazil. The period of peak abundance of O. discicolle occurred during the wet season between the months of October and March. Statistical analysis showed that the abundance of individuals was significantly and positively correlated with temperature, but not with rainfall or relative humidity. Of 28 morphological measurements taken on each collected specimen, seven were found to be sexually dimorphic; however, neither morphology nor the degree of sexual dimorphism varied significantly among seasons.

Seasonal and interpopulational morphometry variation of Platyscytus decempunctatus (Carvalho 1945) (Heteroptera: Miridae) Biota Neotropica
Pires,Evaldo Martins; Guedes,Raul Narciso Carvalho; Serrão,José Eduardo; Ferreira,Paulo Sérgio Fiuza.
A morphometry study was carried out with Platyscytus decempunctatus (Carvalho 1945) collected during the dry and wet seasons in Viçosa county, state of Minas Gerais, Brazil and in other 23 counties from the states of Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. A total of 30 males and 30 females were collected in Viçosa at each season and additional insects (20 males and 20 females) were collected at each county surveyed. The analysis with 27 morphological traits was carried out to verify the seasonal influence, differences between sexes and among populations in specimens from Viçosa. The females of P. decempunctatus collected in Viçosa were larger than the males in most of the traits evaluated in both seasons (dry and wet). The males showed only two body...

Triplaris americana L. (Polygonaceae), a New Host Plant For Aethalion reticulatum (Linnaeus, 1767) (Hemiptera: Aethalionidae) BABT
Pires,Evaldo Martins; Silva,Larissa Cavalheiro; Batirola,Leandro Denis; Nogueira,Roberta Martins; Barreto,Marliton Rocha; Corassa,Janaina Nadai.
Triplaris americana is a plant that has been applied as ornamental specie and also as natural medicine. Adults and immature stages of Aethalion reticulatum were observed colonizing specimens of this plant in Sinop, MT, Brazil, which represent the first record of this leafhopper colonizing this specie.

Quality Control of Trichogramma atopovirilia and Trichogramma pretiosum (Hym.: Trichogrammatidae) adults reared under laboratory conditions BABT
Soares,Marcus Alvarenga; Leite,Germano Leão Demolin; Zanuncio,José Cola; Sá,Veríssimo Gibran Mendes de; Ferreira,Cleidson Soares; Rocha,Silma Leite; Pires,Evaldo Martins; Serrão,José Eduardo.
The objective of this work was to assess the flight capacity, parasitism and emergence of Trichogramma atopoviriliaand two strains of T. pretiosum (Hymenoptera: Trichogrammatidae) (L1 and L2). The flight capacity of these species was assessed in test units consisting of a plastic PVC cylinder with a rigid transparent plastic circle on the upper part and an extruded polystyrene disk closing its bottom. A tube was placed in each test unit containing a card with 300 Anagasta kuehniella (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae) eggs parasitised by Trichogramma. These cards were assessed to determine the parasitism rate and adult emergence of these natural enemies. T. atopovirilia and T. pretiosum L1 presented adequate flight capacity and parasitism, in addition to high...
