| Estimou-se a produção de serapilheira e a taxa de decomposição do material foliar em uma área de cerradão, fisionomia pouco estudada a esse respeito e muito ameaçada, principalmente no Estado de São Paulo. No período de estudo, a quantidade total de serapilheira produzida foi de 5646,9 kg.ha-1.ano-1, onde a fração 'folhas' teve a maior participação, contribuindo com 4081,2 kg.ha¹.ano-1, seguida pela fração 'ramos' (1066,1 kg.ha-1.ano-1), 'estruturas reprodutivas' (434,1 kg.ha-1.ano-1) e 'miscelânea' (65,5 kg.ha-1.ano-1). | A qualitative and quantitative analysis of the environmental damages occurrences was conducted through the lawful documents established for charging at the State Prosecution Service of São Carlos city, State of São Paulo, during 1991 - 2000, to understand the relationship between environmental problems and the current development actions. The environmental damage identified were grouped into nine classes, where deforestation was prevailing in each year along the period of study. Of the total number of deforestation occurrences, 180 was related to areas smaller than 5 ha. It corresponded to 110.35 ha of the total deforested area. | The occupation pattern of Sotalia guianensis in São Francisco do Sul harbor inlet, in Babitonga bay, southern Brazil, was studied between September 1996 and June 1998. A total of 200 h of naturalistic observations and 141.2 h of estuarine dolphin systematic observations were made using binoculars 7 x 50. At each three minutes interval, data about number of individuals and behavior were registered. The population used the harbor inlet intensively, mainly for fishing activities. Ebb tide was responsible for a higher occupation index. Considering the months analyzed, the higher occupation index occurred in May, and in January the lower occurrence was observed. The mean group size was four individuals. |

| (Distribuição da comunidade de epífitas vasculares em sítios sob diferentes graus de perturbação na Floresta Nacional de Ipanema, São Paulo, Brasil). Apesar da importância de epífitas vasculares em refletir o grau de preservação local, existem poucas pesquisas sobre o tema. Esta pesquisa foi desenvolvida na Floresta Nacional de Ipanema, Iperó, SP, e teve por objetivo caracterizar e analisar a comunidade epifítica vascular em sítios sob diferentes graus de perturbação. Foram determinados três sítios: RIA - remanescente isolado/alterado, FAB - floresta avançada/borda e FAI - floresta avançada/interior e, em cada sítio, foram amostrados 90 forófitos com DAP ³ 20 cm.
