Selectivity of Herbicides to Cabbage (Brassica oleracea var. capitata) Planta Daninha
REIS,M.R.; MELO,C.A.D.; RAPOSO,T.P.; AQUINO,R.F.B.A.; AQUINO,L.A..
ABSTRACT The presence of weeds in commercial fields of cabbage may interfere directly and indirectly on yield and on the quality of the commercial product. Therefore, the satisfactory production depends on a successful control of weeds. Because of the limited availability of herbicides registered in Brazil for cabbage crop in addition to the lack of information in the literature, the objective of this work was to evaluate the selectivity of herbicides to cabbage. The herbicides S-metolachlor (1,740 and 768 g ha-1), oxyfluorfen (240 and 96 g ha-1), flumioxazin (40 and 40 g ha-1) clomazone (720 and 360 g ha-1) and oxyfluorfen + flumioxazin (240 + 20 and 96 + 20 g ha-1) were applied before and after transplant of seedlings, besides the S-metolachlor +...

Tolerance of Cabbage Crop to Auxin Herbicides Planta Daninha
NASCIMENTO,A.L.V.; PEREIRA,G.A.M.; PUCCI,L.F.; ALVES,D.P.; GOMES,C.A.; REIS,M.R..
ABSTRACT: The presence of weeds in cabbage cultivation areas causes a reduction in the productivity and quality of the commercial product. Given the difficulties in management and the scarcity of registered products for weed control in cabbage cultivation, this study aimed to evaluate the tolerance of the cabbage cultivars Astrus Plus to the herbicides 2,4-D and dicamba. Two experiments were performed; one under controlled conditions and another conducted in the field. The efficacy of the herbicides on the initial growth of the crop was evaluated in the first experiment, measuring the dry matter of the aerial part, the root of the plant, and evaluating the intoxication of the plants. Plant poisoning was also evaluated in the second experiment, along with...

Transport of Atrazine Via Leaching in Agricultural Soil with Mineral Oil Addition Planta Daninha
MENDES,K.F.; SHIROMA,A.T.; PIMPINATO,R.F.; REIS,M.R.; TORNISIELO,V.L..
ABSTRACT: Adjuvants, such as mineral oils, are widely used in the application of herbicides by reducing the drift and evaporation of the droplets and by increasing herbicide uptake by the plant. However, little is known about how mineral oil behaves when in contact with the soil. Thus, the objective of this research was to evaluate the transport of atrazine via leaching with the addition of mineral oil in a soil agricultural under laboratory conditions. To quantify the concentration of the herbicide along the profile of the very clay soil column (30 cm), 14C-atrazine (ring-U-14C) was used with 16,667 Bq of radioactivity per column in volume of 200 mL solution and 0 (control), 1, and 2% mineral oil (v/v) was added in the application volume. Atrazine was...

Glyphosate Herbicide Use in Urochloa brizantha Management in Intercropping With Herbicide-Resistant Maize Planta Daninha
SILVA,D.V.; FREITAS,M.A.M.; SOUZA,M.F.; QUEIROZ,G.P.; MELO,C.A.D.; SILVA,A.A.; FERREIRA,L.R.; REIS,M.R..
The success of the intercropping among cultivated species depends on the adoption of practices that provide, in due course, greater competitive ability of a species over another. The objective of this study was to evaluate the use of glyphosate herbicide in the suppression of Brachiaria (signalgrass) intercropped with maize. The experiment was conducted in a randomized complete block design with four replications. The treatments were arranged in a 5 x 2 + 2 factorial arrangement, the first factor corresponding to the doses of glyphosate (48, 96, 144, 240, 480 g ha-1 of the acid equivalent (a.e)) and the second one to the vegetative stages of the signalgrass at the time of application (2 and 4 tillers). Two controls were added to the treatment list,...

Selection of Indicator Species of the Tembotrione Sorption in Soils with Different Attributes Planta Daninha
FARIA,A.T.; SILVA,E.M.G.; PEREIRA,G.A.M.; SOUZA,M.F.; SILVA,A.A.; REIS,M.R..
ABSTRACT: Studies on herbicide behavior in soils may be performed using biological and chemical methods. The efficiency of the biological method depends on the indicator species sensitivity to low herbicide concentrations in the soil solution. Among the herbicides commonly used in Brazil for corn cultivation, tembotrione stands out. In the last agricultural seasons, the intoxication of some crops when cultivated in succession to corn has been reported, which may be attributed to tembotrione recommendations without the knowledge of their interactions with colloids of tropical soils. In this research, we selected an indicator plant species of tembotrione residues in the soil after sorting 12 species. The sorption of this herbicide was estimated in two...

SELECTIVITY OF METRIBUZIN IN POSTEMERGENCE OF CULTURE OF CARROT Planta Daninha
CARNEIRO,G.D.O. PESSOA; SILVA,G.S.; BARBOSA,A.R.; SILVA,D.V.; REIS,M.R..
ABSTRACT The initial slow growth and short stature of carrot can allow that weeds settle in crop areas, requiring the management of these plants for productivity not to decrease. Nevertheless, weeds control has been difficult because there are few herbicides available for weeds control in postemergence of carrots. Two experiments in the field were carried out to evaluate selectivity of metribuzin applied in postemergence of carrots. A experimental randomized block design was utilized with four repetitions. Treatments consisted of metribuzin doses (0, 144, 288, 432, 576, 720, 960 and 1,200 g ha-1), applied in postemergence of carrots of the Nantes variety. Roots productivity was evaluated and percentage of commercial roots and no-commercial roots was...

Tembotrione Half-Life in Soils with Different Attributes Planta Daninha
SILVA,E.M.G.; FARIA,A.T.; MARULANDA,N.M.E.; PEREIRA,G.A.M.; SARAIVA,D.T.; REIS,M.R.; SILVA,A.A..
ABSTRACT: Before recommending an herbicide, it is necessary to know its interactions with the soil attributes that will influence its sorption and half-life in the soil. This knowledge is an essential condition for minimizing any negative effects that may result from its application. However, due to the great diversity of soil and climate in Brazil, especially for products of recent use in the country, such as the herbicide tembotrione, this knowledge is often not available. This may be the main cause of occurrence of intoxication reports in crops carried out in succession to corn sprayed with this herbicide. In order to reduce possible impacts on successor crops and the contamination of surface and groundwater using the high-performance liquid...
