| Milk production is a very important element of the whole dairy chain. The BRIC countries are among the top 6 milk producing countries and produce nearly one third of the world’s total milk volume. A large number of dairy animals and a relatively low milk output per animal show a great potential of the BRIC for a further growth of production. In the same time the BRIC countries comprise 42% of world’s population. Expected population and prosperity growth will lead to a further growth in milk demand. | Der weißrussische Milchsektor hat schwer unter den Transformationsprozessen gelitten. In den 90er Jahren ist die Milchproduktion deutlich zurückgegangen, sowohl bedingt durch eine Reduzierung des Kuhbestandes als auch durch eine Senkung der Milchleistung. Trotz des Produktionsrückgangs im Zuge der Transformation ist der Export von Milchprodukten seit 1992 deutlich angestiegen. 2004 ist Milch sogar zum wichtigsten Exportprodukt im Agrarhandel geworden. Die beiden Tatsachen, der Produktionsrückgang und das Exportwachstum, widersprechen einander bei der Bewertung der Wettbewerbsfähigkeit der weißrussischen Milchbranche. | Seit dem Beginn des Transformationsprozesses ist in Weissrussland eine stetige Reduktion der Milcherzeugung und Herstellung von Milchprodukten zu beobachten. Der Transformations-prozess fuhrte zu verschiedenen Friktionen in der gesamten weissrussischen Agrar- und Ernahrungswirtschaft. | Since the late 1980s, agriculture in Central and Eastern European Countries (CEECs) has been under considerable adjustment pressure due to changing political, economic and institutional environments. These changes have been linked to the transition process, as well as the ongoing integration into the European Union and the world market.
