Effect of nitrogen fertilization and correlations between morphogenesis and structural parameters of grass pastures 22
Sales, Eleuza Clarete Junqueira de; Monção, Flávio Pinto; Machado, Silvia Layse Mendes; Ruas, José Reinaldo Mendes; Reis, Sidnei Tavares dos; Rigueira, João Paulo Sampaio; Pires, Daniel Ananias de Assis; Viana, Maria Celuta Machado; Silva, Edilaine Aparecida.
The objective of this work was evaluate the association between morphogenetic and structural characteristics of Brachiaria decumbens managed at different doses of nitrogen. The experimental design was a randomized block with four replications. Four levels of nitrogen fertilization were evaluated: 100; 200; 300 and 400 kg of N ha-1 as urea, divided in two doses during the rainy season (January to March) and the control treatment without fertilization. There was an increase in leaf appearance rate (LAR), leaf elongation rate (LER) and tiller number (NP) up to 21.4%; 23.8% and 50.5% for the highest dose of N (400 kg N ha-1) compared to the control group, respectively. There was a positive correlation (r = 0.53) (p<0.05) between the LER and leaf life span...

Cheese and milk quality of F1 Holstein x Zebu cows fed different levels of banana peel 2
Melo, Marco Túlio Parrela de; Rocha Júnior, Vicente Ribeiro; Caldeira, Luciana Albuquerque; Pimentel, Paulo Roberto Silveira; Reis, Sidnei Tavares dos; Jesus, Diego Lucas Soares de.
This study aimed to evaluate the effects of the inclusion of different levels of sun-dried banana peel in the diet for crossbred cows on the quality of Minas fresh cheese and milk. Diets consisted of 0, 15, 30, 45 and 60% replacement of sorghum silage with banana peel. Ten cows were assigned to two 5 x 5 Latin squares experimental design. Milk samples were taken from each cow and analyzed for composition. Milk was pasteurized for the production of Minas fresh cheese, which was weighed to determine the yield and analyzed for texture, physical and chemical characteristics and consumer acceptance test. Milk urea nitrogen had a quadratic effect with minimum point at 43.76% replacement of silage with banana peel. The remaining items evaluated in the composition...

Fermentation kinetics and in vitro degradation rates of grasses of the genus Cynodon 2
Reis, Sidnei Tavares dos; Lima, Marcus Vinícius Gonçalves; Sales, Eleuza Clarete Junqueira de; Monção, Flávio Pinto; Rigueira, João Paulo Sampaio; Santos, Leonardo David Tuffi.
The present study aimed to evaluate the fermentation kinetics and degradation rates of Cynodon grasses estimated by semi-automated technique of in vitro gas production. The forages were: Coastcross, Tifton 85 and Tifton 68. Pressure readings were taken at 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 15, 19, 24, 30, 36, 48, 72 and 96 hours. Dry matter degradability (DMD) was obtained by the percentage of dry matter (DM) remaining after 0, 6, 12, 24, 48 and 96 hours of fermentation. Tifton 85 showed a higher total gas production (p <0.05). Higher fermentation rates were found at the beginning of fermentation followed by subsequent reduction (p <0.05) over time. Tifton 85 and Tifton 68 showed higher values (p < 0.05) for soluble fraction, potentially degradable insoluble...
