Morphological and Biochemical Alterations of Paddy Rice in Response to Stress Caused by Herbicides and Total Plant Submersion Planta Daninha
MARCHEZAN,M.G.; AVILA,L.A.; AGOSTINETTO,D.; SCHAEDLER,C.E.; LANGARO,A.C.; OLIVEIRA,C.; ZIMMER,M.; SCHREIBER,F..
ABSTRACT Herbicide selectivity in paddy rice varies in several aspects, among which are the environmental conditions. The aim of the study was to evaluate the effect of herbicide application and total plant submersion on morphological and biochemical changes in paddy rice. Total chlorophyll and carotenoids, catalase activity, ascorbate peroxidase and superoxide dismutase, total phenolic content, lipid peroxidation and hydrogen peroxide levels were assessed. Leaf samples were collected 24 hours and 7 days after the application of water regimes. The results observed in the first experiment show that cultivars Puitá INTA CL, IRGA 417 and IRGA 422 CL are more tolerant to total submersion. The most sensitive cultivars are IRGA 424, BRS Querência, EPAGRI 108 and...

CROSS-RESISTANCE OF RICE FLATSEDGE TO ALS-INHIBITING HERBICIDES Planta Daninha
CHIAPINOTTO,D.M.; SCHAEDLER,C.E.; FERNANDES,J.P.S.; ANDRES,A.; LAMEGO,F.P..
ABSTRACT Cyperus iria (CYPIR) is one of the main weeds in irrigated rice crops. The intense chemical control with acetolactate synthase (ALS) inhibiting herbicides favors the selection of cross-resistance. This study aimed to evaluate the crossresistance of CYPIR to ALS-inhibiting herbicides in irrigated rice in Rio Grande do Sul. Two experiments arranged in a factorial scheme, in a completely randomized design, with four replications were conducted. Experiment I consisted of resistant (CYPIR-R) and susceptible (CYPIR-S) biotypes and ALS-inhibiting herbicide doses: imazethapyr (106 g a.i. ha-1); pyrazosulfuron-ethyl (20 g a.i. ha-1); penoxsulam (36 g a.i. ha-1) and, as an alternative herbicide, bentazone (960 g a.i. ha-1); corresponding to 0; 1/16; 1/8;...

Biochemical Alterations of Weeds in Response to Stress Caused by Herbicides and Total Plant Submersion Planta Daninha
MARCHEZAN,M.G.; AVILA,L.A.; SCHAEDLER,C.E.; AMARANTE,L.; SCHERNER,A.; SCHREIBER,F..
ABSTRACT: The maximum biological efficiency of a herbicide is performed when the plants are in favorable condition to absorb and metabolize it. Stress situations, such as total submersion, cause stress in plants, reducing weed control efficiency and crop yield. The objective of this study was to verify whether different soil water content and herbicide treatments alter the components of the secondary metabolism and cause cellular damage in weed species Two experiments were conducted (I and II) in a completely randomized experimental design with a factorial scheme (2 x 2 x 4 and 2 x 5, respectively) and three replicates. The first experiment was conducted with two species (Leersia hexandra and Luziola peruviana), which were submitted to four herbicide...

Weed Phytosociological Survey in Irrigated Rice Planta Daninha
NUNES,F.S.; SCHAEDLER,C.E.; CHIAPINOTTO,D.M..
ABSTRACT: The phytosociological method helps evaluate the vegetation composition. The objective of this study was to identify and quantify the main weed species present in irrigated rice. The phytosociological survey was carried out in three mainly rice monoculture, Clearfield® technology using properties in Itaqui-RS, between 2013 and 2014. For each property and period, a ½ ha representative area was selected and 10 random samples were collected, using a quadrat square of 1 m2. The sample colletion was conducted in two periods of time: during the irrigated rice crop initial growth and during the cereal’s pre-harvesting phase. All collected plants were identified and counted, allowing for their frequency, relative frequency, density, relative density,...

Physicochemical Compatibility of Agrochemical Mixtures in Spray Tanks for Paddy Field Rice Crops Planta Daninha
RAKES,M.; GRÜTZMACHER,A.D.; PAZINI,J.B.; PASINI,R.A.; SCHAEDLER,C.E..
ABSTRACT: The use of pesticide mixtures constitutes a relatively common practice in rice crops. Thus, the aim of this work was to evaluate the physicochemical interaction among different pesticide tank mixes for use in paddy field rice. The study has followed technical standards specified in ABNT [Associação Brasileira de Normas Técnicas (Brazilian National Standards Organization)] NBR [Norma Brasileira Regulamentadora (Brazilian Regulatory Standard)] NBR 13875:2014 for the assessment of physicochemical compatibility by means of a dynamic technique. Treatments consisted of mixtures of 12 pesticides, which constituted 16 treatments, six of which are composed by mixing herbicides, six by mixing herbicide and insecticide, one by mixing fungicides, and three...

Relative Competitiveness Between Cultivated and Weedy Rice under Full and Low Light Planta Daninha
SCHAEDLER,C.E.; LUBIAN,W.; LIMA,P.C.; CHIAPINOTTO,D.M..
ABSTRACT: Cultivated and weedy rice biotypes exhibit morphophysiological variations under low light, affecting competition between plants. The aim of this study was to assess relative competitiveness between cultivated and weedy rice under full and low light. Three experiments were conducted in a greenhouse, using a completely randomized design with four repetitions. The treatments in the experiment I were arranged in additive series while in the experiments II and III treatments were arranged in replacement series. Experiments II and III were carried out concomitantly to assess coexistence between the rice cultivar and weedy rice. The treatments consisted of different plants proportions: 100:0 (cultivated rice monoculture), 75:25, 50:50, 25:75 and 0:100...
