Total polyphenols from Syzygium cumini (L.) Skeels fruit extract BJPS
Migliato,Ketylin Fernanda; Carvalho,Elisângela Simões de; Sacramento,Luis Vitor Silva do; Mello,João Carlos Palazzo de; Baby,André Rolim; Velasco,Maria Valéria Robles; Salgado,Hérida Regina Nunes.
A precise, accurate and low cost spectrophotometric method was developed and validated for routine determination of total polyphenols, as pyrogallic acid equivalents, from the percolated and lyophilized extract of Syzygium cumini (L.) Skeels fruits. Validation was assessed experimentally and data were rigorously treated by statistical analysis. Analytical parameters were: linearity, interval (range), precision and recovery/accuracy, limit of detection (LOD, μg mL-1) and limit of quantification (LOQ, μg mL-1). The visible spectrophotometric method presented linearity (r² = 0.9979 ± 0.0010) over the concentration range 0.25-7.5 μg mL-1 of standard pyrogallic acid, precision < 2.918171%, recovery/accuracy ranging from 96.228693 to 107.17701%, LOD = 0.21 μg...

Organic cocoa extract -loaded surfactant-based systems intended to skin bioadhesion BJPS
Fonseca-Santos,Bruno; Funagoshi,Erica Emi; Oliveira,José Ricardo Soares de; Sacramento,Luis Vitor Silva do; Santos,André Gonzaga dos; Leonardi,Gislaine Ricci; Chorilli,Marlus.
ABSTRACT This study was to develop, characterize, and evaluate the physical-chemical stability, in vitro antioxidant activity and in vitro safety profile of liquid crystalline systems (LCS) and microemulsions (MEs) with and without organic cocoa (OC) extract. LCS stabilized by surfactant polyoxyethylene 20 cetyl ether, containing water and oleic acid were studied. LCS and MEs were characterized using polarized light microscopy, small angle X-ray scattering, rheology and in vitro bioadhesion, and were evaluated for a period of 30 days by visual aspects, centrifuge test, pH value and relative density. PLM and SAXS assays showed the presence of domains of MEs, cubic and hexagonal mesophasephases, varying the proportions of the components of the formulations;...

Phosphate forms in plant and their internal buffering in five soybean cultivars Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Solo
Martinez,Hermínia Emília Prieto; Novais,Roberto Ferreira; Rodrigues,Luciana Aparecida; Sacramento,Luis Vitor Silva do.
Differences among plants in their ability to support nutritional stress periods may be caused by a differential vacuole capacity of ion storage and release and may also depend on the intensity of nutrient re-translocation under such conditions. In five soybean cultivars, submitted to eight days of P deprivation, the dry matter production and the contents of three phosphorus (P) forms - inorganic (Pi), organic (Po), and acid-soluble total (Pts) of different plant organs were determined. Pi release velocity (RSPi) was estimated as the tangent to the equations obtained for Pi f(t) at the point t = 2 days (the mean point in the period of greatest Pi decrease), considering that -deltaPi/deltat expresses the rate of Pi release. The internal Pi buffering capacity...
