Measurement of genetic diversity in progenies of sour passion fruit by ward-mlm methodology: a strategy for heterotic group formation Ciência e Agrotecnologia
Silva,Fernando Higino de Lima e; Viana,Alexandre Pio; Ferreira,Rulfe Tavares; Freitas,Jôsie Cloviane de Oliveira; Santos,Jardel Oliveira; Rodrigues,Daniele Lima.
Passion fruit belongs to the family Passifloraceae, and the genus Passiflora is regarded the most economically important. The present study aimed to quantify genetic diversity among progenies of sour passion fruit, in order to define potential heterotic groups, based on morpho-agronomic descriptors, using the Ward-MLM procedure. It is useful for generation advancement in the passion fruit breeding program, via recurrent selection, under development at the Universidade Estadual do Norte Fluminense Darcy Ribeiro (UENF). For such, 81 full-sib progenies belonging to the third recurrent selection cycle (C03) were assessed. Twenty-three descriptors were used, five of which were qualitative and 18, quantitative. The quantitative and qualitative variables were...

Morphological characterization and analysis of genetic variability among pepper accessions Ciência Rural
Bianchi,Paola Alvares; Dutra,Iris Petronilia; Moulin,Monique Moreira; Santos,Jardel Oliveira; Santos Júnior,Alexandre Cristiano.
ABSTRACT: The peppers of the genus Capsicumhave economic potential and elevated genetic variability. The objective of the study was to characterize morpho-agronomically and estimate the genetic divergence among pepper accessions of the active germplasm bank of Capsicumof the Instituto Federal do Espírito Santo, Campus Alegre. Thirty accessions were characterized based on ten morphological descriptors being the experimental design completely randomized, with six repetitions. Genetic diversity among the accessions was estimated by the Tocher grouping method as a measurement of dissimilarity and formed eight groups. The Singh method, used to estimate the relative contribution of each character in the expression of genetic divergence, indicated that the...

Proposal for qualitative and quantitative descriptors to characterise bamboo germplasm Rev. Ciênc. Agron.
Generoso,Andressa Leal; Santos,Jardel Oliveira; Carvalho,Virginia Silva; Sacoman,Nayara Niele; Rodrigues,Rosana.
ABSTRACT Bamboo is a genetic resource with evident potential for use from construction until the recovery of degraded areas. Although, characterization and evaluation studies involving bamboo species are scarce and it is difficult to define a list of specific descriptors to better meet the different genres and or bamboo species. Thus, the objective of this work were propose and test the effectiveness of qualitative and quantitative descriptors for phenotypic characterization and the study of genetic diversity among six species of bamboo introduced in Brazil. Fifteen qualitative and nine quantitative descriptors were proposed and tested in clones with one year of planting. Individuals belonging to six species of bamboo (Bambusa vulgaris, Bambusa vulgaris...
