Bean yield in Brazil is considered low, around 820 kg ha-1, reaching values above 3000 kg ha-1, there are several environmental factors which may limit the performance of this culture, especially those related to the soil. The present work aimed to evaluate soil compactions in bean culture of different soil management systems, by means of digital images. Tomato plant inheritance of antixenotic resistance to tomato leafminer PAB

The objective of this work was to determine the inheritance of resistance by antixenosis in tomato plants (Lycopersicon esculentum) to tomato leafminer [Tuta absoluta (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae)]. Evaluations were performed for tomato plants of the generations P1, P2, F1, F2, RC1 and RC2. The measured characteristic in the parents, BGH-1497 (P2 male) and 'Santa Clara' (P1 female), and in the F1, F2, RC1 and RC2 generations was the number of eggs per plant. This number was converted to the oviposition nonpreference index. The inheritance of antixenosis resistance of genotype BGH-1497 is ruled by a gene of greater effect and polygenes in epistatic interactions, with a phenotypic proportion of 13:3 between susceptible and resistant genotypes, respectively.

O condicionamento físico do solo ao redor das sementes reveste-se de grande importância para o bom desenvolvimento inicial da cultura, assegurando uma população sadia de plantas. O adequado contato solo-semente é um pré-requisito para a rápida emergência e o bom estabelecimento da cultura. Neste trabalho, objetivou-se utilizar a tomografia computadorizada de resolução milimétrica para determinação do ambiente solo-semente em sistema de plantio direto, logo após o plantio da cultura da soja. Este trabalho foi realizado para determinar, entre seis índices de vegetação baseados em dados de refletância espectral, aquele que melhor discrimina doses de nitrogênio e que possui maior correlação com leituras de clorofila e massa seca do capim-tanzânia (Panicum maximum Jacq.). RESUMO O objetivo desse trabalho foi avaliar a variabilidade espacial de atributos físicos do solo para áreas de Latossolo, Argissolo e Cambissolo ocupadas por pastagens. O conhecimento dessa variabilidade é importante, pois ela influencia a qualidade das pastagens e a recarga de água subterrânea. Foram coletadas 154 amostras georreferenciadas para cada área de estudo. Para analisar os dados foi usada a estatística descritiva e a geoestatística. A dependência espacial ocorreu para a maioria dos atributos físicos: condutividade hidráulica em solo saturado e densidade do solo para as três classes de solos; microporosidade, macroporosidade e porosidade total para as áreas de Cambissolo e Latossolo. This study aimed to develop classifiers based on different combinations of spectral bands and vegetation indices from original, segmented and reflectance images in order to determine the levels of leaf nitrogen and chlorophyll in the bean, and to define the best time and best variables. A remote-sensing system was used, consisting of a helium balloon and two small-format digital cameras. Besides the individual spectral bands, four vegetation indices were tested: simple ratio, normalized difference, normalized difference in the green band, and modified-chlorophyll absorption. Total soil electrical conductivity and critical soil K+ to Ca2+ and Mg2+ ratio for potato crops Scientia Agricola

Soil K+ to Ca2+ and Mg2+ ratio as well as the total salinity were evaluated in response to potassium fertilizer application onto potato. Potassium was applied at six different rates (0, 60, 120, 240, 480 and 960 kg ha-1 of K2O), as K2SO4, and was placed during planting time in the furrow. Soil from the 0-200 mm layer was collected in the furrow, 20 and 48 days after plant emergence (DAE) to evaluate soil pH, K+, Ca2+ and Mg2+ contents and the total electrical conductivity (EC). A factorial design (6x2), with six K rates and two sampling times was set up in a randomized block design with four replications.
