D4.4 Final revised database Organic Eprints
Willer, Helga; Schaack, Diana.
In the framework of the OrganicDataNetwork project and internal project database was established in order to store the data collected in the two survey rounds of the OrganicDataNetwork project (Willer and Schaack 2013 and 2014). The database builds on the one that the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture (FiBL) and the Agricultural Market Information Company (AMI) use for their organic data collection activities. However, this database was considerably expanded during the OrganicDataNetwork project. This document explains the features of the internal OrganicDataNetwork database and how the data can be acceded.

Analyse des Bio-Geflügelmarktes Organic Eprints
Schaack, Diana; Quaing, Henriette; Nusch, Tanja; Rampold, Christine; Beck, Margit M..

It now amounts to approximately 22.8 billion euros (European Union: 20.9 billion euros). In this article, key developments of the organic market as well as tables and graphs are presented.

Growth Trends in European Organic Food and Agriculture Organic Eprints
Willer, Helga; Schaack, Diana; Bteich, Marie Reine.
In Europe today, organic agricultural land, operators4 and markets5, in almost all countries, continue to develop and grow. Furthermore in a global context Europe continues to be a forerunner in organic agriculture. This positive development in Europe and in particular in the European Union (EU) is due to a number of reasons, including strong consumer demand, legal protection and requirements for organic production and labelling as set out in EU and national legislation, and the development of private organic standards. In addition, policy support measures, such as conversion and maintenance payments for organic production and other relevant measures, provided for in most countries under the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), Rural Development Programmes...

Erhebung zu Bio-Marktdaten in Europa – Datenlücken, Klassifizierungen, Definitionen und Qualitätschecks Organic Eprints
Schaack, Diana; Willer, Helga.
One of the aims of the EU-funded OrganicDataNetwork project is to collect, store in a common format and provide access to currently available data on organic markets in Europe. Two surveys on production, retail sales, international trade data were carried out. The surveys have shown that a wide range of data is available but a number of challenges need to be tackled in the future. These challenges include lack of data, non-timeliness and incompleteness of data, as well as classification issues as – other than with the area and production data – almost every country uses a different classification/nomenclature for retail sales, export and import data. Other issues include non-harmonised definitions and data quality. For the first time, organic market data...

Organic Farming and Market Development in Europe and the European Union Organic Eprints
Willer, Helga; Schaack, Diana; Lernoud, Julia.
This chapter is an update for some of the data presented in the article “Growth trends in European organic food and farming” (Willer et al. 2016) written by the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture (FiBL), the Agriculture Market Information Company (AMI), and IFOAM EU, and published by IFOAM EU and FiBL in the volume “Organic in Europe, 2016”. Therefore, the structure of this chapter is different from the other regional statistics chapters in this book. The article focuses on Europe and on the 28 member states of the European Union (EU), and it shows some trends of the EU-13 and the EU-15 countries. The EU-13 countries are those that became members of the European Union in or after May 2004. The EU-15 countries are member countries of the European...
