Remote sensing imagery can be a very useful auxiliary tool for native forests inventory. Thus, the objective of this study was to evaluate the stratification of a cerrado (Brazilian savanna) patch based on visual image interpretation techniques as well as to compare the errors from two sampling designs, the Stratified Random Sampling (SRS) and the Systematic Sampling (SS).The study area corresponds to a cerrado sensu stricto patch located in the municipality of Papagaios, Minas Gerais, Brazil. The cerrado wood volumes were obtained from a forest inventory field campaign where 32 plots were measured systematically. The study area was stratified based on a visual interpretation of a Landsat 5 TM image, and the strata formed were: “Strata I”, “Strata II”,... |

The total soil organic carbon (C) is regulated by climatic factors, altitude, texture and soil depth. Due to higher storage in surface, it is common to observe the exponential model to adjust the C content in the soil profile. This study was carried out in order to study the influence of climatic factors, altitude and soil depth on the vertical distribution (0-100 cm) of C in five Cerrado fragments located in the municipalities of Januária and Bonito de Minas, Minas Gerais State, Brazil. Soil samples were collected in the following layers: 0-10, 10-20, 20-40, 40-60 and 60-100 cm. The maximum and minimum levels of C varied depending on the sampling site, fragment and soil layer sampled. Larger variations in the levels of C were noted for the 0-10 cm layer,... |

The objective of this work was to adjust traditional models of hypsometric relations for homogeneous candeia stands, under different initial spacings. Ten models were adjusted for hypsometric relations. The assessment criteria obeyed the highest determination coefficient and the lowest standard error of estimate in percentage. The F test was also evaluated, as well as the significance of the regression coefficients, the graphical analysis of the residues and the identity test when the same model was selected for different treatments. It was observed that, over time, the hypsometric curves reduce their tilt, move to the right and elevate, reducing the interval among them from the sixth year. The traditional hypsometric relation models as Henricksen,... |
