Hintergründe zu EHEC, Salmonellen und Co. in Gülle, Mist und Boden, Resultate des Forschungsprojektes PathOrganic Organic Eprints
Koller, Martin; Schmid, Michael; Brankatschk, Kerstin; Friedel, Jürgen K.; Sessitsch, Angela.

Persistence and spread of Salmonella enterica serovar Weltevreden in soil and on spinach plants Organic Eprints
Arthurson , Veronica; Sessitsch, Angela; Jäderlund, Lotta.
Several outbreaks caused by pathogenic bacteria are related to the consumption of raw produce contaminated by animal manure. The majority of these outbreaks have been linked to Salmonella spp. We examined the ability of Salmonella enterica serovar Weltevreden to persist and survive in manure and soil as well as disseminate to, and persist on, spinach roots and leaves. Significantly higher numbers of S. Weltevreden inoculated into manure and applied to soil before planting spinach were found in soil than in pot cultures, where the pathogen had been inoculated directly into soil 14 days postplanting. Moreover, the pathogen seemed to disperse from manure to spinach roots, as we observed a continuous increase in the number of contaminated replicate pot...

Shared protocols and data template in agronomic trials Organic Eprints
Cammarano, Davide; Martre, Pierre; Drexler, Dora; Draye, Xavier; Sessitsch, Angela; Pecchioni, Nicola; Cooper, Julia; Willer, Helga; Voicu, Adriana; Hinsinger, Philippe.
Due to the overlap of many disciplines and the availability of novel technologies, modern agriculture has become a wide, interdisciplinary endeavor, especially in Precision Agriculture. The adoption of a standard format for reporting field experiments can help researchers to focus on the data rather than on re-formatting and understanding the structure of the data. This paper describes how a European consortium plans to: i) create a “handbook” of protocols for reporting definitions, methodologies and parameters measured/calculated; and ii) how a data-template for field data was created and will be linked to the “handbook”. The overall goal of the EU-funded project Solutions for Solutions for improving Agroecosystem and Crop Efficiency for water and...
