INCIDENCE OF FUNGI IN MOMBASA GRASS SEEDS DURING THE STAGES OF THE SEED CONDITIONING PROCESS REA
Silva,Givanildo Z. da; Martins,Cibele C.; Melo,Lilian F. de; Jeromini,Tatiane S.; Panizzi,Rita de C..
ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of the seed conditioning process on the sanitary quality of Panicum maximum ‘Mombasa’ seeds. The seeds were sampled before processing and after exiting the seed blower and sieves (discharge from the top and bottom sieves), first gravity separator (intermediate discharge), seed treatment equipment (dyeing the seeds of the intermediate discharge from the first separator), and second gravity separator (upper, intermediate, and lower discharge). Sanitary analysis was performed by the Blotter Test method with and without surface disinfestation of the seeds, which were incubated at 20 ± 2 °C, with a photoperiod of 12 h, for 7 d. The conditioning process increased the incidence of Fusarium sp. in the...

Processing on the sanitary quality of seeds of Panicum maximum cv. ‘Tanzânia’ AGRIAMBI
Melo,Lilian F.; Silva,Givanildo Z. da; Panizzi,Rita C.; Martins,Cibele C..
ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to evaluate the sanitary quality of seeds of Panicum maximum cv. ‘Tanzânia’, following the several phases of the seed processing process. Seeds were sampled before processing and after leaving the air and screen machine (upper and intermediary screens and bottom); first gravity table (drift, upper and intermediate spouts); second gravity table (upper, intermediate, and lower spouts), and treating machine for dyeing the seeds. The sanitary analyses were conducted according to the filter paper method, with and without superficial disinfestation of the seeds, which were incubated at a temperature of 20 ± 2 °C with photoperiod of 12 h for seven days. Some seed processing steps may reduce the incidence of seeds of P. maximum...

Phytosanitary quality of Brachiaria brizantha ‘BRS Piatã’ seeds in function of climate conditions AGRIAMBI
Silva,Givanildo Z. da; Martins,Cibele C.; Nascimento,Luciana C. do; Barreto,Gabriel G.; Farias,Otília R. de.
ABSTRACT Infected seeds are one of the main pathogen transmission vehicles, and they are responsible for significant losses in production fields; phytosanitary defense depends on the inoculum and climatic factors. Thus, in this study, it was aimed to identify climatic variables of the regions that propitiate the production of Brachiaria brizantha ‘BRS Piatã’ seeds infected with phytopathogenic fungi. Temperature and rainfall data were obtained from 10 production fields, and phytosanitary quality of the seeds was evaluated with the filter paper method; the means were compared using the Kruskal–Wallis non-parametric analysis. Principal component analysis was performed to determine the relationship between the climatic variables and seed phytosanitary...

Origin and temperature on the germination of beggartick seeds AGRIAMBI
Barros,Renato T. de; Martins,Cibele C.; Silva,Givanildo Z. da; Martins,Dagoberto.
ABSTRACT The invasive behavior of beggarticks (Bidens pilosa L.) in cropped areas is due to its ecological adaptation and aggressive regeneration, which is dependent on seed germination. The objective of this research was to verify the effects of B. pilosa seed origin and temperature on seed germination. The seeds were collected in Entre Rios do Oeste, PR, Botucatu, SP, Capão Bonito, SP, São Joaquim da Barra, SP, Sertãozinho, SP, Selvíria, MS, Barra do Garças, MT, Areia, PB and Manaus, AM. The seeds were evaluated regarding moisture content, 1000-seed weight, germination speed index and germination at 60 days (normal seedlings, dormant seeds and dead seeds) at the temperatures of 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, and 45 ºC. The replicates were distributed...

Temperature and substrate on Plukenetia volubilis L. seed germination AGRIAMBI
Silva,Givanildo Z. da; Vieira,Vanessa A. C.; Boneti,João E. B.; Melo,Lilian F.; Martins,Cibele C..
ABSTRACT The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of temperature and substrate on the germination of P. volubilis seeds. Seeds harvested from 25 matrix plants were submitted, in two studies, to conditions of (i) sowing in rolled paper towel at the temperatures of 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, and 45 °C, for the evaluation of germination, first count of germination, germination speed index and mean time for germination, and (ii) sowing in the substrates paper towel, sand, Bioplant®, Bioplant® and micron, superfine, fine, medium and coarse vermiculite. The same evaluations mentioned in the first study were conducted at the temperature of 30 oC, as well as plant growth. The treatment replicates were distributed in a completely randomized block...

Germination test of Eucalyptus phaeotricha seeds AGRIAMBI
Affonso,Carlos E.; Silva,Givanildo Z. da; Jeromini,Tatiane S.; Martins,Cibele C..
ABSTRACT The rules for seed analysis do not have recommendations for conducting the germination test of Eucalyptus phaeotricha seeds. Thus, the aim of this study was to determine the best substrate, temperature, conduction time, and substrate moistening level for the germination test of E. phaeotricha seeds. First count of germination, germination, germination speed index and mean time of germination were evaluated. The first experiment was carried out in a completely randomized design, in a factorial scheme (6 x 2), corresponding to six temperature regimes (15, 20, 25, 30, 35 °C and 20-30 °C) and two substrates (paper and sand) with four replicates, and the means were compared by Tukey test at 0.05 probability level. In the second experiment, the...

Substrate and seed sowing position on the production of Plukenetia volubilis L. seedlings AGRIAMBI
Jeromini,Tatiane S.; Barbosa,Ana S. V.; Silva,Givanildo Z. da; Martins,Cibele C..
ABSTRACT Plukenetia volubilis is a species native to the Amazonia and has economic potential due to the high contents of polyunsaturated fatty acids and vitamins of the seeds; however, information about production of seedlings in nursery is scarce. Factors that contribute to fast emergence and generation of vigorous seedlings are desirable for plant production in the nursery. Therefore, this study aimed to identify the most favorable substrate and seed position for the production of P. volubilis seedlings. The seeds were sown in the following four positions: hilum facing up, hilum facing down, seed lying on its cotyledon suture, and seed lying flat on one of its cotyledon faces. The substrates were sand, vermiculite and commercial substrate. Treatments...
