Batomorphii. 1b: Order Rajiformes - Suborder Rajoidei - Family: Rajidae - Genera and Subgenera: Bathyraja (with a deep-water, shallow-water and transitional morphotype), Psammobatis, Raja (Amblyraja), Raja (Dipturus), Raja (Leucoraja), Raja (Raja), Raja (Rajella) (with two morphotypes), Raja (Rioraja), Raja (Rostroraja), Raja lintea, and Sympterygia

Part B, No. 1a of this series, comprising of the Batomorphii the first section on the Rajoidei, is continued with further rajoid taxa. The tooth morphology of representatives of eleven more genera and subgenera Bathyraja albomaculata, Bathyraja spinicauda, Psammobatis rudis, Raja (Amblyraja) radiata, Raja (Dipturus) batis, Raja (Leucoraja) naevus, Raja (Raja) clavata, Raja (Rajella) bathyphila, Raja (Rajella) fyllae, Raja (Rioraja) agassizi, Raja (Rostroraja) alba, Raja lintea and Sympterygia bonapartei is described and illustrated by SEM-photographs. Differential diagnoses, systematic interpretations, as well as an odontological key will be given in a forthcoming issue dealing with the last rajoid taxa. |

Part B, Nos. 1a and 1b of this series, comprising of the Batomorphii the first and the second sections on the Rajoidei, is continued with the last group of rajoid taxa as far as material was available. The tooth morphology of representatives of eleven more genera and subgenera, namely Arhynchobatis, Bathyraja richardsoni-type, Cruriraja, Irolita, Notoraja, Pavoraja (Insentiraja), Pavoraja (Pavoraja), Pseudoraja, Raja (Atlantoraja), Raja (Okamejei) and Rhinoraja, is described and illustrated by SEM-photographs. Differential diagnoses and systematic interpretations are presented as a result of the odontological examinations described here and in the previous two issues 1a and 1b for the supraspefic taxa of the Rajoidei. |

Part B of this series, comprising the Batomorphii, is initiated with taxa of the Rajoidei. The tooth morphology of representatives of nine genera and subgenera is described and illustrated by SEM-photographs. An adapted terminology is introduced for the description of rajoid teeth, because their tooth morphology differs markedly in various aspects from that in selachians. A differential diagnosis for and conclusions on rajoid odontology, as well as an odontological key will be given in a forthcoming issue dealing with the last rajoid taxa. |

The tooth and rostral spine morphology of representatives of the pristid genera Anoxypristis and Pristis, of the rhinid genera Rhina and Rhynchobatus and of the rhinobatid genera: Apytchotrema, Platyrhina, Platyrhinoidis, Rhinobatos, Trygonorrhina, Zanobatus and Zapteryx is described and illustrated by SEM photographs. A differential diagnosis is given to distinguish the genera by tooth morphology. |
