This activity was carried out during 2009 – 2012 under the project on research and development of upland rice for the upper Northeastern Thailand by KKN_RRC, CPA_RRC, SKN_RRC, UDN_RRC, NRM_RRC, NKI_RRC and UBN_RRC. Ten accessions of Pa-yah Leum Gaeng collected from farmers’ fields and 1,458 other upland rice accessions from the NRGB were evaluated for their adaptation and farmers acceptance on agronomic characteristics, grain quality and eating quality. The selected Pa-yah Leum Gaeng are glutinous upland rice with erected plant type, moderately strong stem and long-slender leaf with light green color. The internode color is yellow. The flowering date is about September 20th. The average number of panicles per hill is 9 – 10 while an average yield is 357... Blast and bacterial leaf blight diseases are major diseases, which cause severe losses to yield and quality of rice in north eastern region. An evaluation of reaction of rice cultivars/lines to blast and bacterial leaf blight is one of the activities under the program of germplasm improvement in north eastern region with the objective of selecting for the rice lines resistant to leaf and neck blast and to bacterial leaf blight. The experiments were carried out in 2013 at Sakon Nakorn Rice Research Centre using 99 rainfed lowland rice lines and 35 irrigated rice lines. Traditional aromatic rice is well known for its jasmine aroma of cooked rice and well adaptations under the variation of paddy field conditions in northeast Thailand. The objectives of this study were to evaluate the agronomic characteristic and reaction of the selected traditional aromatic rice to important diseases. The experimental design was randomized complete Block composed of 4 replications, during wet season 2013, at Sakon Nakhon Rice Research Center.
