Biosolids in Leaching of Herbicides Mimicking Auxin in Tropical Soils Planta Daninha
SOUZA,P.D.; TUFFI SANTOS,L.D.; MONTES,W.G.; CRUZ,L.R.; AZEVEDO,A.M..
ABSTRACT: Biosolids are residues from the treatment of urban fluids used as a source of nutrients for agricultural and forestry crops. The organic matter contained in this residue and its chemical characteristics may interfere with the behavior of herbicides in the soil. The objective of this study was to evaluate the influence of biosolids on the potential for leaching herbicides mimicking auxin. Two simultaneous experiments were performed: a leaching test of picloram + 2.4-D in soil column with addition of thermally treated biosolids or solarized biosolids and another one to evaluate the effect of leachate application from the leaching tests under inert material. Each type of biosolid was incorporated in sandy soil in the proportions of 0%, 50%, 100% and...

Physiological Response of Maize and Weeds in Coexistence Planta Daninha
BARROS,R.E.; FARIA,R.M.; TUFFI SANTOS,L.D.; AZEVEDO,A.M.; GOVERNICI,J.L..
ABSTRACT This study aimed at evaluating the physiology of maize and weeds when living under different densities. The randomized block design with 4 replications was used. The factorial scheme 5 x 2 + 1 and 5 x 3 was adopted, for maize and weeds respectively, corresponding to weed species (Bidens pilosa, Commelina benghalensis, Urochloa brizantha, Sorghum arundinaceum and Ipomoea triloba) and infestation density (control, 15 and 30 plants m-2). Weeds were kept in coexistence with the maize hybrid DKB 390 PRO 2, with an additional treatment for maize plants absent of competition. It was kept in coexistence with maize hybrid DKB 390 PRO 2 besides an additional treatment with maize plants absent of competition. On day 45 and 60 after maize planting (DAP)...

Productivity, Control, and Decomposition of Irrigated Forage Species under Glyphosate Doses and Shading Planta Daninha
BRANT,M.C.; TUFFI SANTOS,L.D.; FREITAS,I.C.; FRAZÃO,L.A.; SILVA,M.S.N.; MACHADO,V.D.; SANTOS,M.V..
ABSTRACT: Light intensity available in growing environments may influence the susceptibility of plants to glyphosate and decomposition of their residues. This study aimed to assess the productivity, control, and decomposition of forage straw submitted to glyphosate doses and exposed to full sun and 50% shade. Two experiments were carried out, one for Piatã grass (Urochloa brizantha cv. Piatã) and other for Tanzania grass (Megathyrsus maximus cv. Tanzania). The experimental design was a randomized block design with strip-plot and four replications. Two growing environments (at full sun and under 50% shade) were installed in strips in the growing area, combined with six doses of glyphosate (0, 360, 720, 1,080, 1,440, and 1,800 g a.e. ha-1) used for forage...

HERBICIDE SELECTIVITY TO SIGNAL GRASS AND CONGO GRASS Planta Daninha
ANÉSIO,A.H.C.; SANTOS,M.V.; SILVEIRA,R.R.; FERREIRA,E.A.; BRAZ,T.G.S.; TUFFI SANTOS,L.D.; SANTOS,J.B..
ABSTRACT This study was conducted in order to evaluate the selectivity of signal grass and congo grass, submitted to post-emergence herbicide application. The experiment was conducted under greenhouse conditions, in Diamantina, Minas Gerais state, and it was arranged in a randomized block design, with five replications. Treatments were set in factor scheme (8 x 2) + 2. Eight herbicides (nicosulfuron; clomazone; glyphosate; fluazifop-p-butyl + fomesafen; lactofen; fomesafen; fluazifop-p-butyl and mesotrione) were applied in doses recommended by the manufacturer on two fodder species: Brachiaria decumbens cv. Basilisk (signal grass) and Brachiaria ruziziensis (congo grass); in addition, there were two control samples without herbicide application, for a...
