(Meliaceae) na região rural de Itirapina, SP, Brasil Acta Botanica Santos,Débora Leonardo dos; Takaki,Massanori. A fenologia de queda de folhas, brotação, floração e frutificação de Cedrela fissilis Vell. foi estudada de setembro/1999 a novembro/2001 na zona rural do Município de Itirapina, SP. Foram observados, a cada 14 dias, 10 indivíduos que apresentaram comportamento fenológico sazonal, com ocorrência seqüencial das fenofases, queda de folhas na estação seca, brotação seguida de floração no início da estação chuvosa, e frutificação longa, com a duração de 11 meses, dispersando as sementes aladas ao final da estação seca. O desfolhamento total durante os meses mais secos do ano caracterizou a espécie como decídua. A floração e frutificação ocorreram em ciclos supra anuais. (Melastomataceae) Acta Botanica Zaia,José Eduardo; Takaki,Massanori. A influência da luz no processo de germinação de sementes de Tibouchina pulchra e T granulosa foi estudada. Sementes de Tibouchina pulchra e T. granulosa submetidas a diferentes qualidades e quantidades de luz demonstram forte dependência para o processo de germinação. Em condições de escuro e irradiação com vermelho-extremo, as sementes não germinaram, demonstrando o envolvimento do fitócromo no processo, como evidenciado através de curvas de fluencia-respostae de curvas de escape da ação do litocromo. Após 12 meses deestocagem sob baixa temperatura as sementes apresentaram a mesma percentagem de sementes viáveis. A partir destes resultados conclui-se que T. pulchra and T granulosa são espécies pioneiras. The role of the seed coat in the light sensitivity of seeds of Raphanus sativus L. cv. redondo gigante was analysed by germination tests of intact and naked seeds. Far-red light caused high inhibition of seed germination, while under white and red lights low inhibition was found. Naked seeds presented no light sensitivity with high percentage germination under light and darkness. However, incubation of naked seeds in -0.6MPa polyethylene glycol solution resulted in light inhibition as observed in intact seeds. The analysis of the seed coat transmitted light indicated that the filtered light presented the same photoequilibrium of phytochrome when compared to the white light, with a decrease of only 33% in the light irradiance which reaches the embryo. A distribuição espectral da radiação foi obtida nos meses de agosto de 1994, junho e agosto de 1995 numa área de Mata Atlântica situada no Parque Estadual Intervales, Base do Saibadela (24º14'S e 48º04'W). município de Sete Barras, SP. As leituras de varredura do espectro foram realizadas com espectroradiômetro LI-1800, em 22 pontos sob o dossel da floresta e três pontos numa área aberta, em condições de céu aberto (sol) e céu encoberto (nublado). The Epiphyllum phyllanthus seeds present high sensitivity to light and their germination can be promoted by dim green safe light through the very low fluence response mediated by phytochrome A. Part of seed population have phytochrome B in active form (Pfr) enough to promote germination in darkness. Seeds of Epiphyllum phyllanthus germinate in a wide temperature range from 10 to 40°C, reaching complete germination in the range of 15 to 30°C. Above 35°C the germination rate increases indicating control by a non phytochrome related process. The effect of light and temperature on Tibouchina mutabilis seed germination was analyzed by isothermic incubations in the range of 10 to 40 °C, with 5 °C intervals under both continuous white light (32.85 µmolm-2s-1) and darkness and alternating temperatures (15-20; 15-25; 15-30; 15-35; 20-25; 20-30; 20-35; 25-30; 25-35 and 30-35 °C) under both photoperiod of 12 hours and continuous darkness. Juss. ex Kunth na emergência, no crescimento e no desenvolvimento inicial de suas plântulas sob diferentes condições de luminosidade. As sementes foram separadas em quatro classes de massa e semeadas em quatro réplicas de 24 sementes para cada classe, no sol e na sombra. No ambiente de sol ocorreu a maior porcentagem de emergência. Dentre as classes de massa, sementes maiores apresentaram maior porcentagem de emergência em ambos os ambientes, porém a maior velocidade foi observada na sombra. As sementes de Caesalpinia peltophoroides absorvem água rapidamente e após 9 horas acumulam o conteúdo de 56% de água e perdem mais lentamente, necessitando de cerca de 20 horas para perder completamente a água absorvida. As sementes de Caesalpinia peltophoroides germinam na faixa de temperaturas de 15 a 25 °C, e não possuem fotossensibilidade independentemente dos tratamentos luminosos e das temperaturas testadas. Verificou-se que com a diminuição do potencial de água, ocorre nas sementes uma redução na germinabilidade e na velocidade de germinação sob luz branca. The influence of constant temperatures from 10 to 45ºC, with 5ºC intervals, under the white light and darkness were tested. The optimum temperature for the germination of the seeds was between 25 and 30ºC, for both the light and the dark treatments. The maximal germination was reached in the range of 15 to 35ºC under the light and of 20 to 40ºC in the darkness. The seeds showed highest synchronization of the germination near the optimal temperature. The germination in the field was tested under the two light conditions. Seedling growth (height and stem diameter) was faster under sun, the development of roots more continuous and the number of leaves almost twice of that of shade plants. The effect of pelletization of radish seeds with powdered graphite on the tolerance to water stress under light was analysed. White light and far-red lights were filtered by graphite increasing slightly the tolerance of pelleted seeds to water stress of -0.77MPa. Although red light also inhibited seed germination the graphite had no effect. We propose the pelletization of seeds of Raphanus sativus, at least in cv redondo gigante with graphite as a pratice before planting to increase the tolerance to water stress.
