| "<i>Diplomystus</i>" <i>dartevellei</i>, <i>Eoknightia caheni</i> and <i>Nolfia kwangoensis</i>, the three Cenomanian clupeomorph teleosts from Kipala (Kwango, Zaire), are restudied. Their systematic position within the clupeomorph phylogeny is discussed and a phylogenetic cladogram proposed. A new genus, <i>Kwangoclupea</i>, is erected for <i>"D." dartevellei</i> which is the immediate apomorphic sister-group of the Ellimmichthyiformes. <i>Eoknightia</i> is more apomorphic than <i>Kwangoclupea</i> and represents the plesiomorphic sister-group of a clade including <i>Spratticeps</i>, <i>Santanaclupea</i> and the Clupeiformes.... |
