Gegenstand dieses Beitrags ist die Frage, inwieweit das Prinzip Good Governance im Förder-bereich "Verbesserung der Verarbeitung und Vermarktung landwirtschaftlicher Erzeugnisse" Anwendung findet und welche Maßnahmen dazu führen können, diesem Prinzip gerecht zu werden. Dabei wird empirisch ermittelt, inwieweit bestimmte Aspekte der Good Governance Definition in den jeweiligen Länderprogrammen verwirklicht sind und welche Indikatoren sich als nützlich erwiesen haben. Abschließend wird ein Verfahren vorgestellt bei dem über eine Gewichtung von Zielen ein Ranking von Projekten nach ihrem Zielbeitrag ermöglicht wird.

The agri-food sector was given remarkable amounts of funding by all German federal states in the framework of the Measure g ‘Improving Processing and Marketing of Agricultural Products’ within the rural development programs. Based on literature and data we obtained by evaluating this program we identified some indicators representative for illustration of sustainable development, Apart from project data we used the official statistics and the method of case studies. Via selected indicators we received some signs of sustainable development in enterprises of the agri-food industry that also influence the development of rural area. Public Support of the Processing and Marketing of Agricultural Products: A Driver of Innovation in the Food Industry? AgEcon

At issue in this paper is the role of innovation within the public support of food-industries under EU rural development policy. It is focused on the questions: Are there fundamental economic characteristics of highly innovative in comparison to less innovative enterprises? And, what are successful strategies to promote innovations by intervention of the state. Baseline information is given through the data ascertainment of investment grant applications and collaboration with local state departments.
