| Organic production is perceived by consumers as being superior in animal welfare and sustainability and the demand for organic pork products is slowly increasing. Within the past ten years a variety of husbandry and management systems have been developed across the EU, ranging from farms with pigs outdoors all year round using local breeds to farms with housed pigs having concrete outside runs and using conventional breeds (CorePIG, Rousing et al, 2011). | Stálo by za to, zhodnotit na ekologických farmách, které hospodaří bez chemie více než deset patnáct let, jak se změnila kvalita půdy, stabilizovaly výnosy, zdraví a užitkovost hospodářských zvířat. Souhrnné informace o tom zpracované nemáme, vycházíme spíše z osobních znalostí poradců, kteří ekozemědělce každoročně navštěvují. Na mnoha ekofarmách už došlo ke generační výměně, generace tehdy padesátníků, kteří s elánem po roce 1990 začali u nás ekologicky hospodařit, předává tato hospodářství svým následovníkům a ti ve velké většině pokračují zase ekologicky, často s nabytými zkušenostmi a na stabilizovaných hospodářstvích, lépe než jejich tátové. |

| Die Artenvielfalt an Pflanzen und Wildtieren und die Vielfalt der Landschaften werden zunehmend durch die sich ausbreitende intensive Landwirtschaft bedroht. Zwar gibt es europäische und nationale Agrarumweltprogramme, die dem entgegenwirken wollen. Sie werden aber zu wenig effizient umgesetzt. Ungenügendes ökologisches Fachwissen und zu wenig ökologisch ausgerichtete Beratung gehören zu den Hauptgründen für die schlechte Umsetzung dieser Programme. | Publikace shrnuje začátky ekologického zemědělství v České republice se zaměřením na založení svazu PRO-BIO. Kniha se skládá ze dvou částí. První obsahuje vzpomínky zakladatelů ekologického zemědělství po roce 1989 a kopie dobových dokumentů, např. článků novin a časopisů. Druhá část přináší portréty ekologických zemědělců, pracovníků Ministerstva zemědělství, kontrolních organizací a projevy kolegů z Maďarska, Rakouska, Německa, Švýcarska a EU na konferenci, která se konala v Luhačovicích v únoru 2000. |

| Počet ekologicky hospodařících podniků se za posledních pět let více jak ztrojnásobil. Výměra zemědělské půdy se zdvojnásobila a činí již více než deset procent z celkové výměry zemědělské půdy v ČR. Ze strany výrobců potravin i zahraničních odběratelů roste poptávka po biosurovinách. Tomuto rychlému zvyšování ekologicky obhospodařovaných ploch však neodpovídá produkce a nabídka rozmnožovacího materiálu ekologického původu. |

| The Czech organic farming is continuously growing and has reached almost 12 % of the farmland acreage in the Czech Republic. The main driving force in the development of the organic farming in the Czech Republic are subsidies; which led to the fact that there is mainly grassland in the organic system (82,5 %). Concerning the organic plant production there is a significant increase in the organic viticulture (965 ha), the most important crops are cereals followed by fodder crops. The organic land burden in livestock units is very low (with beef cattle being the most numerous).
