The CEEMEX-P4 cruise represented the first sampling expedition to the Gulf of Tehuantepec within the frame of a comprehensive project aimed at the study of demersal resources associated with major shrimp (Penaeidae) fishing grounds off the coast of western Mexico. The material was collected in March-April 1991, aboard the R/V "El Puma" (ICML, UNAM). A total of 29 stations were occupied and samples of invertebrates and fishes were obtained with three types of gear: an 80-foot shrimp trawl, a Mediterranean bottom trawl and a modified Agassiz dredge.
