Silk protein solution was sprayed on upland paddy fields of 23 farmers at Phufa Pattana Centre in Nan province to study its potential to increase the yield of rice. Untreated areas were included in each field for comparison. Standard procedures for proper rice growing were applied in all study areas, namely, addition of bio-fertilizer during land preparation and during the cultivation, weed control, etc. Number of tillers, number of plants per tiller, plant height, panicles’ length, number of branches per panicle, number of seeds per tiller, weight of 100 good seeds and grains’ weight per sq.m. were collected.
