Sward height is a key parameter for rotational grazing. Influence of different sward heights (low: 8 cm, medium: 10 cm, high: 12 cm) on DM yield and grass growth rate were investigated on an intensive grazed area at the research farm of the Organic Institute of AREC Raumberg-Gumpenstein during the vegetation period of 2013. The significant highest yields were found in treatment “high” (12,581 kg DM ha-1) and “medium” (12,119 kg DM ha-1). Treatment “low” reached a yield of 10,343 kg DM ha-1. During summer, grass growth rate was about 60 kg DM ha-1 day-1 in average. |
