| Op 6 Juni van dit jaar bezochten wij, in gezelschap van H.J.W. Schimmel en H. Over en op aanwijzing van J. Entrop te Leerdam, de verlaten zand- en kleigroeve, die tussen Asperen en Acquoi is gelegen, vlak tegen de noordelijke dijk van de Linge. Entrop had ons het ondiep en onregelmatig afgegraven terrein beschreven als een wildernis van riet en wilgen met o.m. een massale groei van Epipactis Palustris. Gezien de elders in dergelijke terreinen opgedane ervaring was er een redelijke kans, dat er ook Equisetum variegatum zou voorkomen. Deze verwachting werd zelfs overtroffen. De paardestaart die wij er vonden en op het eerste gezicht voor deze soort versleten bleek hij een nadere beschouwing alleen maar Equisetum trachyodon A.Br. te kunnen zijn! |

| Corrigiola litoralis L. is mostly claimed to specialize its habitat in W.- en C.-Europe on river shores and banks consisting of course sand and gravel with fluctuating water level. Moreover, this habitat should be restricted to a nitratophilous one; its vegetation belongs to the Chenopodion fluviatile (Bidentetalia). However, this habitat appears to be only one of four main habitat types; it occurs in W.-Germany, N.-France and locally in S.-England. | Op 8 okt 1960 vond de heer J.C. Tanis, custos van het Biologisch Station “Schellingerland” op Terschelling, in de nabijheid van dit Station een bloeiend exemplaar van Erica cinerea L. Na opzending van een bloeiende tak via ondergetekenden naar het Rijksherbarium werd deze determinatie bevestigd. Deze opmerkelijke waarneming geeft aanleiding tot commentaar, temeer, daar men op het eerste gezicht geneigd is, hier enig verhand te zien met de ontdekking van twee andere, mediterraan-atlantische, Erica-soorten in dezelfde omgeving, te weten E. scoparia L. door Th.J. Reichgelt in 1952 (zie van Ooststroora en Reichgelt 1956) en E. ciliaris L. door P. Runge in 1955 (zie Runge 1956, van Ooststroom en Reichgelt 1956). |

| It is a well-known fact that vegetation can be classified on the basis of quite different criteria; e.g. by physiognomy, structure, dynamic processes, floristical composition, and even – a scientifically less satisfying way – by habitat. It is not the aim of this study to give a critical review of these starting-points. Het mag sommige buitenstaanders misschien voorkomen, dat de terminologie van de vegetatiekunde reeds rijkelijk ingewikkeld is. Dit is echter slechts schijn. | Chrysosplenium alternifolium L., in the Netherlands a rare species of spring and rivulet habitats in pleistocene and older landscape of the eastern and south-eastern parts of the country, has recently been observed in a young holocene calcareous moist dune area on the island of Voorne in a hawthorn scrub at the border of an artificial rivulet. The author analyses the vegetation of the locality and considers it to be a fragmentary form of the Macrophorbieto-Alnetum cardaminetosum amarae. | In the years 1954-1957 The Foundation for Biocenological Research (Stichting tot Onderzoek van Levensgemeenschappen, S.O.L.) carried out an extensive study on the vegetation of about 125 former river beds in the Netherlands. They were situated along the great rivers and their branches, viz. Meuse, Oude Maas (“Old Meuse”), Heusdense Maas (“Heusden Meuse”), Rhine, Lek, Merwede, Waal and IJsel. The work was made possible by a grant of the Netherlands Organisation for Pure Research (Nederlandse Organisatie voor Zuiver Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek, Z.W.O.). Dr. M. F. | The authors report a new locality in the Netherlands (Zeeland) in which Campanula latifolia L. has been found. A description of the vegetation of the site is given and the habitat is compared with the environments in which this species occurs in other countries of Europe. A map of the distributional area was drawn according to the floras of the European countries. So far, the species has been found several times in the Netherlands, but botanists considered such occurrences as incidental escapes (cultivated plants running wild). | Het laatste decennium zijn van de boreale Carex aquatilis een aantal vindplaatsen in Groningen en in het noorden van Drente bekend geworden; plaatselijk groeit de soort hier vegetatievormend. Voor Europa wordt de soort verder vermeld uit: Ierland, W.- en N.-Engeland, Schotland, Ijsland, Skandinavië (doch naar het zuiden zeldzamer wordend), Finland, Rusland (naar het zuiden tot bij Leningrad) en Estland, bij Reval (zie Kern en Reichgelt, Fl. | Halimione pedunculata, one of the rarest halophytes of the Netherlands, was known from the southwestern estuaries, as well as from the Westfriesian islands of Terschelling, Ameland and Schiermonnikoog. Its absence from Texel was remarkable. On 6 September 1988, the authors observed and collected the species in the southern part of the island of Texel, near the village Den Hoorn, in the nature reserve ‘De Petten’, a salt marsh inside the dikes. | In the Dutch “Wadden District”, a chain of islands, mainly constituted of dunes poor in lime, Osmunda regalis is only known from the island of Terschelling, which is the poorest in lime. There it is known since 1886 from a single locality along the bank of a ditch at the innermost dune border. The habitat and the vegetation of this locality have been analysed. They have slightly been influenced by adjacent wood plantations in 1951 and 1959—1960 ( Pinus nigra, Alnus glutinosa, Prunus serotina), which seem to have induced Osmunda to spread. | Goodyera repens (L.) R.Br. op Ameland. Naar aanleiding van de mededeling van dr. S.J. van Ooststroom, Dennenorchis op de Waddeneilanden (D.L.N. p.12) het volgende. Toen ik in 1952 van M.T. Jansen hoorde van zijn vondst van Goodyera op Ameland, herinnerde ik mij een paar exemplaren van deze soort, die ik vond in het herbarium van het Friesch Natuurhistorisch Museum te Leeuwarden. Deze planten waren op Ameland verzameld als Epipactis palustris. Ik vermeldde toen op het etiket do juiste naam met de opmerking: deugt do vindplaats wel? Dit laatste in verband mot het feit, dat mij gebleken was, dat de etiketten van dit herbarium voor een groot deel volkomen onbetrouwbaar zijn. On deze reden besteedde ik dan ook geen nadere aandacht aan deze planten. |

| De in Nederland als enig bekende groeiplaats van Filipendula vulgaris Moench (F. hexapetala Gilib.) nabij het Sanatorium “Zonlichtheide” te Gennep, is enkele jaren geleden ten offer gevallen aan de zandwinning, die daar in de Maasuiterwaard heeft plaatsgevonden. Onze vreugde was dan ook groot toen wij bij een, overigens vergeefse, speurtocht naar Serratula tinctoria achter het bos van “Zonlichtheide” een flink aantal van deze reeds uit onze flora geschrapte soort mochten terugvinden. |

| The grasslands characteristic of dry sandy soils found along rivers in the nature reserves Zelderse Driesen and Rivierduintjes bij Mook have been investigated by means of the Braun-Blanquet method. | Carex hartmanii Caj., a sedge new for the Netherlands and closely allied to C. buxbaumii Wahlenb., is ecologically compared to the latter. Whereas the habitat of C. buxbaumii presents a geographical gradient from a Central European eutrophic environment of swamps and wet meadows (Magnocaricion and Cnidio-Juncetum juncetosum subnodulosi) up to, in Sweden, a nearly ombrotrophic vegetation of a raised bog, Carex hartmanii does not show such a gradient. Onlangs werd voor het eerst melding gemaakt van een geval van verwildering van Sambucus canadensis hier te lande (VAN OOSTSTROOM, MENNEMA & ADEMA, 1977, p. 185): volgens een schriftelijke opgave van Dr. A. van de Beek (Vriezenveen) werd deze soort op 9.X.1971 waargenomen bij de oprit van de snelweg bij De Meern.
