A Research of Peripheral Blood Cells Annually in Bufo Bufo gargarizans International Journal of Morphology
Liu,Chongbin; Xia,Chengqiang; Xie,Zhaohui; Jiao,Yang; She,Qiusheng.
The present paper deals with a histological study of the blood cells of Bufo Bufo gargarizans in different months: January, March, May, July and October. The methods used are by routine blood smear in Wright stain and observation in vivo. We found that in smears and in vivo two main types of cells of the red cells: mitotic as well as amitotic. While amitotic occurs all the year round, particularly in July, mitosis so far had been seen only in July. It is also found that there are plenty of neutrophils in the blood cells of Bufo Bufo gargarizans, furthermore, the nuclei of these cells are polymorphic, especially in January and March. Meanwhile, the concentration of red cells was lowest in May and highest in January; The concentration of white blood cells...

Characteristics of the Gustatory Organs on the Tongue of the Chinese Fire-bellied Newt (Cynops orientalis): Light and Scanning Electron Microscopy Study International Journal of Morphology
Xie,Zhaohui; Li,Jingting; Cheng,Pu.
The dorsal surface of the tongue gustatory organs of Chinese fire-bellied newt (Cynops orientalis) was observed by employing the light and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) techniques. The results revealed that the rostral and median part of the tongue presents a round apex and covered by taste disks (TDs). They are usually roundish or ellipsoidal in shape and are 20-35 mm in diameter. The many openings of the lingual glands are 4-8 mm in diameter exist in the lateral border or median part of lingual body. The gustatory organs on the tongue did not differed form those presented in other species in Caudates. These may indicate the functions of gustatory organs on the tongue related to their life habit.

Argentaffine Cells in the Digestive Tract of Hibernating and Non-hibernating in Chinese Fire-bellied Newt (Cynops orientalis) International Journal of Morphology
Xie,Zhaohui; Guo,Duanqiang; Lu,Chengkai; Li,Boying; Shan,Linna.
In order to further studying the relationship between the gastrointestinal endocrine cells and the hibernation of Chinese fire-bellied newt, histological techniques were used in this study to explore the distributed density and morphology of argentaffine cells in the digestive tract during hibernation and non-hibernation. The argentaffine cells could be observed throughout the digestive tract of Chinese fire-bellied newt during hibernation and non-hibernation and mainly distributed in the acinar epithelial cells, epithelial cells and intrinsic membrane. They had appeared in the shape of goblet, pyramid, ellipse, round, cone-shaped, spindle-shaped. The cytoplasm contains secretory granules at the basal regions with spherical nuclei in the basal regions....

Scanning Electron Microscopy Study of the Dorsal Surface of the Tongue in the Slow Loris (Nycticebus coucang) and Pygma Slow Loris (N. pygmaeus) International Journal of Morphology
Xie,Zhaohui; Zhang,Rui.
The dorsal surface of the tongues of the Slow Loris and the Pygma Slow Loris were examined by employing scanning electron microscopy techniques. Three types of the papillae are present on their dorsal surface of the tongue: filiform, fungiform and vallate. The filiform papillae are located the apex and the body of the tongue, and we observed that each of them has a gustatory pore. The fungiform papillae, scattered singly among the filiform papillae, distribute mainly on the apex of the tongue. The vallate papillae are located along the diversing arms of the V-shaped boundary between the anterior and posterior regions of the tongue. In addition, no foliate papillae were observed. The morphological characteristics of the dorsal surface of the tongues in Slow...
