We investigate changes in the delivery and oceanic transport of Amazon sediments related to terrestrial climate variations over the last 250 ka. We present high-resolution geochemical records from four marine sediment cores located between 5 and 12 degrees N along the northern South American margin. The Amazon River is the sole source of terrigenous material for sites at 5 and 9 degrees N, while the core at 12 degrees N receives a mixture of Amazon and Orinoco detrital particles. Using an endmember unmixing model, we estimated the relative proportions of Amazon Andean material ("%-Andes", at 5 and 9 degrees N) and of Amazon material ("%-Amazon", at 12 degrees N) within the terrigenous fraction. Pathology to vertebrate hosts has emerged repeatedly in the order Ophiostomatales. Occasional infections have been observed in Sporothrix mexicana at a low level of virulence, while the main pathogenic species cluster in a derived clade around S. schenckii s.str. In this paper, phylogeny and epidemiology of the members of this clade were investigated for 99 clinical and 36 environmental strains using four genetic loci, viz. rDNA ITS and partial CAL, TEF1, and TEF3; data are compared with amplified fragment length polymorphism (AFLP) genotyping. Two new species of Amniculicola, A. immersa sp. nov. and A. parva sp. nov. from submerged wood in a freshwater environment in Denmark and France are respectively described and illustrated. In addition, partial 28S rDNA sequence data is analysed to investigate their phylogenetic relationships with other pleosporalean taxa. All presently known Amniculicola species, A. immersa, A. lignicola and A. parva, form a robust clade together with the anamorphic species Anguillospora longissima, Spirosphaera cupreorufescens and Repetophragma ontariense. China is a high population country with millions of animal bite cases every year; thus, it is necessary to explore and develop more effective and productive rabies vaccines for human use. To establish a safe, effective, inexpensive and high-yield rabies vaccine, a non-adjuvant purified Vero cell rabies vaccine produced in the SPEEDA PVRV microcarrier bioreactor was developed by Liaoning Chengda Biology Co. Ltd. in China. This vaccine was produced using Vero cells that were cultured in a microcarrier bioreactor. A microcarrier bioreactor containing 25 g/L of Cytodex-1 was used for perfusion culture.
