Landeigenaren in Nationale Landschappen AgEcon
Overbeek, Greet; van der Kroon, Sandra M.A.; Leneman, Hans; Somers, Nadet.
This report contains the results from an exploratory study amongst landowners which reviewed their support strategies for the national landscape areas. To this end, 36 interviews were conducted with landowners (farmers, land managers, recreational entrepreneurs, and country estate owners) in eight national landscape areas (the Achterhoek, Graafschap, Groene Woud, Hoeksche Waard, Noord-Hollands Midden, Noordelijke Wouden, IJsseldelta, and Zuidwest-Zeeland). Farmers perceive the national landscape status as offering them an opportunity to retain their entitlement to reimbursement for nature and landscape conservation. The other categories of landowners appreciate the protection of the core qualities provided by the national landscape status. Een verkennend...

Dagevos, Hans; van der Kroon, Sandra M.A.; van Wijk-Jansen, Elvi E.C..
This study aims at producing an inventory of consumer-oriented practice examples, both inside and outside LNV, which may be considered in the context of broad public involvement in policy. Interviews formed the basis for the study, which reflects the thoughts of 21 interviewees professionally involved in policy-making. The participants are employed in eight different ministries. They were asked about current intentions and ideas about engaging citizen-consumers in policy and what initiatives and concrete actions are being taken.
Since the privatization of the agricultural extension service in the Netherlands and the need for a more market oriented approach, the agricultural innovation system "REE" (from Research through Extension and Education to farmers), no longer seems to provide a suitable response to the complex social changes faced by the agricultural sector. The research programme "Networks in Livestock Farming" can be seen as an experiment aimed at giving a new shape to the interaction between practice, research and policy and thus increasing the self-solving ability of farmers and encouraging innovation in livestock farming in the Netherlands. In 2004, 50 networks of livestock farmers were facilitated by 35 project directors from Wageningen University and Research Center...

Hoe vertrouwd wordt natuur in Nederland? Allochtonen actief in en met natuur AgEcon
Somers, Nadet; van der Kroon, Sandra M.A.; Overbeek, Greet.
An exploratory investigation of the best practice of indigenous and immigrant organisations which are active at the interface between immigrants and nature. Literature study and interviews were used to discover to what extent the activities of these organisations meet the conditions for them to succeed. These conditions have been worked out partly in terms of process (contact with the target group, and the use of publicity material and media channels) and partly in terms of content (relevance to the perceptions and practices of the target group).
