Etude de la contamination de pectinidés (coquilles Saint-Jacques et pétoncles) par le cadmium, le mercure et le plomb dans quelques zones de pêche françaises ArchiMer
Chiffoleau, Jean-francois; Crochet, Sylvette; Rozuel, Emmanuelle; Claisse, Didier.

Chemical contaminants (trace metals, persistent organic pollutants) in albacore tuna from western Indian and south-eastern Atlantic Oceans: Trophic influence and potential as tracers of populations ArchiMer
Chouvelon, Tiphaine; Brach-papa, Christophe; Auger, Dominique; Bodin, Nathalie; Bruzac, Sandrine; Crochet, Sylvette; Degroote, Maxime; Hollanda, Stephanie J.; Hubert, Clarisse; Knoery, Joel; Munschy, Catherine; Puech, Alexis; Rozuel, Emmanuelle; Thomas, Bastien; West, Wendy; Bourjea, Jerome; Nikolic, Natacha.
Albacore tuna (Thunnus alalunga) is a highly commercial fish species harvested in the world's Oceans. Identifying the potential links between populations is one of the key tools that can improve the current management across fisheries areas. In addition to characterising populations' contamination state, chemical compounds can help refine foraging areas, individual flows and populations' structure, especially when combined with other intrinsic biogeochemical (trophic) markers such as carbon and nitrogen stable isotopes. This study investigated the bioaccumulation of seven selected trace metals – chromium, nickel, copper (Cu), zinc (Zn), cadmium (Cd), mercury (Hg) and lead – in the muscle of 443 albacore tunas, collected over two seasons and/or years in the...

Monitoring of Pb Contamination in Loire Estuary: Trends, Distribution and Isotopic composition ArchiMer
Brach-papa, Christophe; Chiffoleau, Jean-francois; Knoery, Joel; Chouvelon, Tiphaine; Auger, Dominique; Bretaudeau-sanjuan, Jane; Crochet, Sylvette; Rozuel, Emmanuelle; Thomas, Bastien; Vasileva, Emilia; Oriana, Anna Maria.
The Loire River is one of the largest river systems in Western Europe and a major source of continental inputs to the marine environment in the Bay of Biscay. Its catchment area drains agricultural and industrial zones and its estuary is increasingly urbanized. Even if the Loire River is not considered as a highly polluted system, studies have shown estuarine Pb contamination due to industrial inputs and combustion of leaded gasoline until the mid 1990’s. A retrospective study, based on the analysis (Pb levels and isotopic composition) of mussel samples collected by the French mussel watch program (RNO/ROCCH) has highlighted this contamination and its trend between 1985-2005 (Couture et al., 2010). This poster furthers the work initiated by Couture et al....

Oligotrophy as a major driver of mercury bioaccumulation in medium-to high-trophic level consumers: A marine ecosystem-comparative study ArchiMer
Chouvelon, Tiphaine; Cresson, Pierre; Bouchoucha, Marc; Brach-papa, Christophe; Bustamante, Paco; Crochet, Sylvette; Marco-miralles, Francoise; Thomas, Bastien; Knoery, Joel.
Mercury (Hg) is a global contaminant of environmental concern. Numerous factors influencing its bioaccumulation in marine organisms have already been described at both individual and species levels (e.g., size or age, habitat, trophic level). However, few studies have compared the trophic characteristics of ecosystems to explain underlying mechanisms of differences in Hg bioaccumulation and biomagnification among food webs and systems. The present study aimed at investigating the potential primary role of the trophic status of systems on Hg bioaccumulation and biomagnification in temperate marine food webs, as shown by their medium-to high-trophic level consumers. It used data from samples collected at the shelf-edge (i.e. offshore organisms) in two...

Contamination chimique des sédiments des lagunes méditerranéennes françaises - Bilan de la Campagne ROCCHSED 2017 ArchiMer
Grouhel, Anne; Chiffoleau, Jean-francois; Crochet, Sylvette; Ouisse, Vincent; Galgani, Francois; Munaron, Dominique.

Difference of mercury bioaccumulation in red mullets from the north-western Mediterranean and Black seas ArchiMer
Harmelin-vivien, M.; Cossa, Daniel; Crochet, Sylvette; Banaru, D.; Letourneur, Y.; Mellon-duval, Capucine.
The relationships between total mercury (Hg) concentration and stable nitrogen isotope ratio (delta N-15) were evaluated in Mullus barbatus barbatus and M. surmuletus from the Mediterranean Sea and M. barbatus ponticus from the Black Sea. Mercury concentration in fish muscle was six times higher in the two Mediterranean species than in the Black Sea one for similar sized animals. A positive correlation between Hg concentration and delta N-15 occurred in all species. Increase in Hg concentration with delta N-15 was high and similar in the two Mediterranean fishes and much lower in the Black Sea species. Since this was neither related to trophic level difference between species nor to methylmercury (MeHg) concentration differences between the north-western...
