This paper describes, for the first time, the cytogenetic characteristics of some South Atlantic nereidid polychaetes, collected in Paranaguá Bay, southeast Brazil. Mitotic chromosomes were obtained from regenerative tissue after amputation of the posterior tips of the animals. Seven species, of five genera, were analyzed: 1) Platynereis dumerilii (2n=28; FN=56), which is considered cosmopolitan but is suspected to be a species-complex. Karyotypic divergences were detected when comparing chromosome morphology and NOR distribution from Paraná and North American populations (2n=28; FN=56), 2) Perinereis vancaurica (2n=28; FN=56), P. anderssoni (2n=28; FN=56) and P. ponteni (2n=28; FN=54). Karyotypes and NOR distribution allowed us to relate P. anderssoni... |

Members of Aspergillus section Nigri are distributed worldwide and are potentially ochratoxin A producers; some of them are used at industrial level as source of extracellular enzymes and organic acids. The taxonomy of this section comprises one of the most complex and confusing of genus Aspergillus. The objectives of present work were to study the phylogeny of Aspergillus section Nigri and their taxonomy by amplifying ITS1, 5.8S and ITS2 regions. We analyzed 14 strains of Aspergillus section Nigri isolated from different commercial forms of yerba mate, classified according to morphology. Genomic DNA was extracted, the ITS regions were amplified with universal primers ITS1 and ITS4, and the obtained fragments were sequenced. The obtained sequences were... |

In order to increase the efficiency in the production of maize hybrids seeds it is necessary high grain yield with a relative low cost of production. It needs an expansion of the basic knowledge of the heredity of the characters that may be developing new breeding technique. The balanced lethal system (BLS) permit to study the relative contribution of different chromosome segments to hybrid vigour due to the heterocigozity of certain chromosome segments while the rest of the genome go to homocigozity for continuous selfing . In this way, theses segments can be transfer to inbreed lines in order to increase the grain yield and tassel size with pollen production. The objective of this work was to transfer heterotic segments of a line regulated by a balanced... |
