KKN01041-23-2-1-1: ข้าวเจ้าไม่ไวต่อช่วงแสงสายพันธุ์ดีเด่น สำหรับภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือ Thai Agricultural
Weerasak Hormsombut.
KKN01041-23-2-1-1 is a non-glutinous and non-photoperiod sensitive promising line derived from a three-way cross. The cross was made in 2004 at Khon Kaen Rice Research Centre, using PTT1 as a female parent and the line derived from the cross between Hawm Supanburi and Jao Hawm Nin as a male parent. The selected line; KKN01041-23-2-1-1, was evaluated in the inter-station yield trials for irrigated rice lines in north eastern Thailand during 2006-2011, and it gave an average yield of 620 kg./rai. This line was also evaluated in farmers' field trials in north eastern Thailand during 2008-2012 in both wet and dry season. It gave an average yield of 550 kg./rai for wet season and 560 kg./rai for dry season. This line can adapt well in a wide range of...

Development of site specific recommendations for rice production; rice genetic coefficient (GC) of popular rice variety research was conducted in 2012 to 2013. The objective of the study was to evaluate the genetic coefficients of popular rice varieties which recently grown in Thailand. Five non-photoperiod sensitive rice varieties (RD29 RD31 Chainat 1 Suphan Buri 3 and Phitsanulok 2 were varied of planting date during the growing season. Three photoperiod sensitive rice varieties (RD6 KDML 105 and Lab Nok Pattani) were also varied planting date. Growth and development data sets were collected. The data sets needed for DSSATv4.5 CSM-CERES-Rice model operation and calibration were also collected and format to input into the model. GLUE genetic...

Pathumthani 1 is an aromatic non-glutinous and photoperiod insensitive rice. Its yield potential is up to 800-900 kg/rai under suitable fertilizer usage and cultural practices. Average yield on farm trail was damaged by flooding, brown planthopper and bacterial blight about 20 to 50 percent. Improvement of Pathumthani 1 for submergence tolerance, bacterial blight and brown planthopper resistance using molecular marker is one approach to solve this problem. This project was carried out under the commitment between the Rice Department and the Gene Discovery Unit of Kasetsart University. The experiments were divided into two parts, first part was crossing Pathumthani 1 and Pinkaset 1 to introduce bacterial blight resistance gene including Xa21, xa5 and...

Rice gall midge (GM) is an important insect pest in the upper north of Thailand i.e. Tak, Phrae, Lampang, Nan, Phayao, Mae Hong Son, Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai provinces. Severe infestations generally occur during September to October. Prior to this study, only MN62M and RD4, the two glutinous rice varieties were recommended as resistant ones. Hence, the non-glutinous type with resistance to GM is in urgent need. The research has been conducted for 12 years during 2001 - 2012. The cross was made between PRE92039-3-1-2-1 and SPT82022-PRE-26-3-2-GM-6. Populations were selected continuously from F2 to F6 after which study and evaluation were carried out in successive steps from observational nursery, intra-station yield trial, inter-station yield trial and...

Rice Gall midge (Orseolia oryzae (Wood-Mason)) is a major problem in the upper Northern part, a glutinous rice line PRE04012-20-1-1-1 was derived from a single cross between Sahm Samai and PRE96011-SPT-1-2-2-1-1 since 2004. The farmer field trials had tested in 2011-2013. In wet season, high potential yield was 1,043 kg/rai while the average yield was 703 kg/rai which was non significant different from 710 kg/rai of RD14 and 704 kg/rai of SPT1. In dry season, the high potential yield was 916 kg/rai while the average yield of PRE04012-20-1-1-1 and SPT1 were 714 kg/rai, but lower than RD14 (759 kg/rai) by 6 percent. In addition, this line can produce maximum yield of 780 kg/rai at 20.4 kg N/rai. This line performed better gall midge resistance (R-MS in green...

Aim of this study was to develop an appropriate recommendation for nitrogen management in irrigated areas of the central plain by using Leaf Color Chart (LCC). Eleven photoperiod-insensitive and 3phot operiod-sensitive rice varieties were studied for nitrogen management using LCC. The studies were conducted at Pathum Thani Rice Research Center both in wet and dry seasons during 2006-2007. Factorial in RCB with 4 replications were used which consisted of 2 factors, rice varieties and nitrogen managements. Four methods of nitrogen managements ; recommendation, application of nitrogen at LCC≤2, LCC≤3 and LCC≤4 were used in the experiments. The results showed that leaf color differs among varieties and seasons. For photoperiod-insensitive rice varieties, at...

A three years set of experiment have been conducted during 2010-2012 to develop and test for rice yield improvement and production cost reduction in Southern part of Thailand. This experiment was conducted in rice research center in the first two years and in farmer field for the third year with Split Plot in RCB; rice varieties as main plots and rice seed rate or spacing as sub plots and 4 replications. Results in research center found that for broadcasting rice, Pathum Thani 1 and RD37 which were photoperiod insensitive varieties gave the highest yield when direct broadcasted with 20 kg/rai seed rate whereas photoperiod sensitive varieties such as Chiang Phatthalung and Sangyod Phatthalung showed the highest yield when soak seed broadcasted with 15...

Recently, the outbreak of brown planthopper in irrigated paddy fields in the lower northern region was found frequently due to continuous rice growing resulting in low yield of rice production. RD49 is a non–glutinous rice which is insensitive to photoperiod. This line was obtained from 3–way cross, PSL00508-3-1-1-4 /IR66738-118-1-2//IR68544-29-2-1-3-1-2. The average yield is 733 kg/rai which is 26, 15 and 6% greater than those of Chai Nat 1, Phitsanulok 2 and RD47, respectively whereas the maximum yield potential reaches 939 kg/rai. The plant type shows moderately strong culm with about 95 cm height, 102-107 days to maturity for seed broadcasting and 116 days for transplanting. The line is moderately resistant to brown planthopper and resistant to rice...
