Comparison of soil preparation methods for direct-seeded rice in Tung Samrit area was conducted in order to evaluate the effectiveness of suitable dry direct seeding technique. The experiment was carried out in farmer’ fields in wet season 2012 using an RCB design with 4 replicates. Five treatments were tested consisting of 1) 2 ploughs, sowing and raking, 2) 1 plough, sowing and covering dry soil using a rotary, 3) 1 plough, sowing and covering moist soil using a rotary, 4) 2 ploughs, sowing and covering dry soil using a rotary, and 5) 2 ploughs, sowing and covering moist soil using a rotary. Four land preparation methods for sugarcane planting in late rainy season were compared at Suphanburi agricultural research and development center between January 2011 and February 2012. These method were conventional tillage (planted by men and furrow with irrigation), Department of Agriculture recommendation method (planted by cane planter and applied water), stripe tillage (plowed by ripper/rotary, planted by cane planter and applied water) and minimum tillage (plowed by ripper/rotary, planted, planted by cane planter and applied water between the row of last ratoon).
