Studies of using mangosteen leaf extract, which contains active compounds similar to steroid hormones, on sex-reversal in Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) were conducted in 2 experiments; 1) incubating of early-stage eggs in water containing mangosteen leaf extract at concentrations of 0, 1, 2.5, and 5 g of mangosteen leaves/l for 7 days, 2) nursing of fry aged 2-day after yolk sac absorption in water containing mangosteen leaf extract at concentrations of 0, 1, 2, and 3 g of mangosteen leaf/l for 28 days The results shown that, eggs were unable to hatch in water containing mangosteen leaf extracts the concentration of 5 g/l. A study was performed to evaluate the effects of melamine (Me) and urea formaldehyde (UF) combinations in diets on growth performance, and characterization of toxicity appearance. The combinations of three levels of Me and UF (0.5, 1.0 and 2.0%) were conducted with one control (no addition) in a completely randomized design (CRD). Four hundred and eighty mixed-sex fish with the initial weight of 9.67±0.03 g were assigned to 10 dietary treatments with 3 replications and fed for 6 weeks. No interaction was observed between Me and UF in this study. ผลของ 17 beta-estradiol ต่อการเปลี่ยนเพศปลาหมอไทยระยะไข่ โดยวิธีการแช่ Thai Agricultural

The effect of 17β-estradiol on sex reversal of climbing perch (Anabas testudineus) egg phase by immersion method were studied. The fish eggs were immersed with 17β-estradiol at the level of 0 (control group), 50, 100, 150 and 200 μg/l in fiberglass tanks containing 5 L freshwater for 4 days. Five hundred eggs were used for each treatment with the experiments being done in 4 replicate. After hatching, hatching rates of the fish were not significantly different regardless of levels 17β-estradiol. Initial length and weight of the fish were measured at the beginning of the experiment.
