Climate change has an impact on rice yield and quality. Heat highly affects rice during flowering stage, as during the stage rice is extremely sensitive to temperature environment. It has been reported that, different rice variety was affected by temperature differently. For Asian country, the highest temperature during the day in summer was about 35 to 41oC or higher resulting in heat intolerance in rice that causes the high percentage of unfilled grain. Heat is also the major cause of cracked-grain leading to the higher number of broken milled rice after milling. The temperature which is higher than 35oC can cause a severe problem in rice plant development in either vegetative phase or reproductive phase that can be determined by the lower number of... |
