Evaluating The Budgeting Approach of Operation and Maintenance of Irrigation in Indonesia by Using Analytic Hierarchy Process CIGR Journal
Sachro, Sri Sangkawati; Kurniawan, Vittorio; Hadihardaja, Joetata; Hadihardaja, Iwan K.
Currently, the Indonesian government calculates the operation and maintenance (O&M) budget by considering the size of the irrigation-area. The problem is, the O&M cost is not always proportional to the size of the area. In fact, infrastructure (such as irrigation channel and hydraulic structures) could be decisive in determining the amount of the required budget. This study will assess the difference in the O&M cost between the government’s policy and the new approach using AHP method. The new method has been formulated by the observation in West Java so this study will attempt to apply it to the various irrigation-area in Central Java. As for the result, the direct applicatoin of the formula will yield unsatisfying result hence improvisation...

A Multifunctional Comparison of Conventional versus Alternative Olive Systems in Spain by Using AHP AgEcon
Parra-Lopez, Carlos; Calatrava-Requena, Javier.
Sustainability of agriculture is strongly related to the multifunctional role implicitly or explicitly recognized to it in the framework of the European Union CAP. This multifunctional role entails a multicriteria approach when assessing the performance and value for society of farming systems. Multicriteria assessment of agricultural systems is characterized by the existence of many criteria often conflicting among then, many stakeholders and decision-makers with competing interests, and lack of information. Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) is a multicriteria methodology that allows dealing with these problems, in a relatively easy, flexible and economical manner, and therefore it is a potentially useful tool in this field, although its application with...

Evaluacion comparativa multifuncional de sistemas agrarios mediante AHP: aplicacion al olivar ecologico, integrado y convencional en Andalucía AgEcon
Lopez, Carlos Parra; Calatrava-Requena, Javier; Gimenez, Tomas De Haro.

Pilecco,M; Almeida Paz,IC de L; Tabaldi,LA; Nääs,IA; Garcia,RG; Caldara,FR; Andrela,GO.
Carcass quality is one of the main parameters to evaluate broiler welfare, and the presence of back scratches indicates that the birds were submitted to stress. The objective of this study was to identify the best management practices during rearing and catching, taking into consideration broiler genetic differences (genetic lines A and B) and sexes. The survey was carried out in 351 broiler houses belonging to an integrated company and located in the region of Dourados, MS, Brazil. Between January and October, 2010, 2% of broilers of all ages (one to 43 days old) in all flocks were sampled. The sampled flock was evaluated in 21 d intervals. Scratches were classified as present or absent. The results indicated that catching management has the strongest...
