The stomach of the new world camelids presents a morphologic structure different from those of the true ruminants. The aim of the present work was to describe the anatomical and histologic features of the stomach of the llama and their relationship with the adjacent structures. Four males llamas were used. Specimens for anatomical studies were fixed by perfusion with 10% formaldehyde. For histology, samples were fixed in Bouin and routinely processed. The anatomical studies showed the proximal compartment located totally in the left abdominal wall. A single right lip, the ventricular furrow, results notorious.
