ABSTRACT This study aimed to present a solution in glued laminated timber to replace frame structures built in reinforced concrete and metallic structure, which are common in agricultural buildings in western Paraná such as those destined to laying poultry house building by agricultural cooperatives. Structural behavior of frames build from Araucaria angustifolia glued boards and vegetable oil-based polyurethane adhesive was evaluated. Tests were carried out to characterize wood and adhesive to obtain verification/sizing parameters. ABSTRACT The aim of this research was to analysis the feasibility of production of wood particleboard with two alternative adhesives: epoxy ink waste and polyhydroxybutyrate polymer (BTH). Particleboard were produced with Pinus sp. wood specie wastes from sawmill process. For each alternative adhesive was proposed different combinations of parameters: time and temperature of press, pressure; alternative adhesive content and mass of wood particles. Two alternative adhesive contents were adopted, 10% and 20% replacing ureaformaldehyde adhesive. ABSTRACT The use of nanoparticles appears to be a feasible option for improving the quality of a range of wood-based products. Studies show that they can improve both the physical and mechanical properties of wood and wood-based products. This preliminary study aimed to analyze the influence of SiO2 nanoparticles on the physical and mechanical properties of wood particleboard. To this end that, panels were produced without the addition of SiO2 nanoparticles and with the addition of 4% by mass of the urea formaldehyde adhesive used for its production. Metal matrix composites (MMC) offer a unique combination of properties that make this class of material ideally suited to the fabrication of components subjected to complex loads, such as marine structures. In many marine applications the dominant requirement is for a reduction in structural weight, and where failure occurs by elastic buckling stiffness is critical. MMC's encompass a very broad class of materials which may be subdivided into three main groups: particulate, whisker and continuous fibre reinforced metals.
